Building Automation Design Engineer
Overview We are seeking a Building Automation Design Engineer to join our rapidly growing team in Chicago. You will be responsible for the design and engineering of advanced Building Automation Systems (BAS) for some of the most complex and critical facilities in the industry—including large commercial real estate, hospitals, and data centers . You'll work alongside experienced engineers, project managers, and commissioning teams to deliver intelligent, energy-efficient, and resilient buildings.

What You'll Be Doing Design complete Building Automation and Controls systems from concept through construction for large-scale projects
Develop control system architecture , sequences of operation, points lists, network layouts, and panel designs
Produce high-quality technical drawings and documentation using AutoCAD, Revit, or Visio
Support project teams during construction, commissioning, and client handover
Collaborate with mechanical, electrical, IT, and facilities stakeholders to ensure system integration and performance
Review submittals, respond to RFIs, and assist with system troubleshooting and optimization
Ensure designs comply with industry standards, energy codes, and best practices
Actively contribute to design innovation, standardization, and continuous improvement within the team
Qualifications 3+ years of experience designing or engineering Building Automation / Controls systems
Strong proficiency in AutoCAD , Revit , or Visio (at least one required)
Solid understanding of HVAC systems, controls logic, and BAS architecture
Experience working on large commercial buildings, healthcare facilities, or data centers
Ability to interpret mechanical drawings, sequences, and technical specifications
Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset
Nice-to-Have (Not Required) Experience with major BAS platforms (e.g., Siemens, Honeywell, Johnson Controls, Tridium)
Familiarity with commissioning processes
Exposure to energy management or analytics platforms
