We are seeking motivated and passionate individuals to join our Dining services team!
Camps Airy & Louise operate a full-service Kitchen and Dining Hall serving 3 meals and an afternoon snack each day to over 600 campers and staff. We are looking for candidates with a great attitude and flexibility to get the job done.
Overview:
The primary purpose of the position is to manage storage, product intake, and create inventory control, providing ordering needs to the Kitchen Manager (KM) and providing product & supplies to the kitchen and dining hall staff in a fast paced high volume operation.
This position is directly responsible for ensuring the quality and quantity of incoming supplies.
This position works in conjunction with various functions of camp day-to-day schedules, activities and locations beyond the kitchen and dining hall, such as - out of dining hall meals, snacks, special events, departments and more.
The Inventory staff reports to the Kitchen Manager (KM) and the Food service manager (FSM) as well as camp Assistant Director and Director during the camp sessions.
Responsibilities:
Production:
Working in alignment to the menu and coordinating pulled items with the kitchen team for food prep and menu production, following KM directions.
Limiting access to storage spaces (including walk-in coolers) by providing items needed on the cooking and serving lines throughout the day.
Providing products needed to out of dining hall events in a timely fashion.
Will assist with Grab-and-Go meal preparation.
Will assist in Trash removal, cardboard box breakdown, and cleaning & sanitation as directed.
Inventory Control:
Following a First In First Out (FIFO) system.
Rotating and inspecting product and produce, correctly marking “use first”, and other food labels as needed for clear indication of item shelf life.
Will perform weekly inventory counts, rotation of food supplies, paper goods, and cleaning supplies.
Timely communication of weekly inventory counts and ordering needs to the KM / FSM.
Maintaining organized, clean, sanitary, and accessible storage spaces and cold units.
Will ensure allergen and special diet products are visibly marked and properly stored in designated locations.
Will complete temperature logs daily and report issues to the KM.
Receiving and Ordering:
Will ensure quick and organized unloading and storing of all items.
Will verify safe temperatures of items coming off trucks, if needed will reject any damaged or unsafe items.
Will assist KM in checking invoices and PO’s upon arrival.
Reporting supply quality/quantity issues and item shorts promptly to the KM and FSM.
Will communicate with FSM and Logistics manager the arrival and departure of delivery trucks to ensure quick and safe vehicle movement on camp roads.
The Inventory staff will ensure that the back gate is open during delivery hours and closed at all other times of the day.
Internal camp distribution and Programing needs:
Will have access to in-camp vehicles for camp food distribution and trash removal purposes.
Will maintain cleanliness of said camp vehicle, communicate gas needs to the facilities team, and will report any issues promptly.
Will communicate and coordinate food and supplies pick up/drop off with camp leadership, departments and other relevant individuals.
Will deliver meals/snacks/special events and food programing needs to assigned locations following camp schedules.
Will inspect conditions and quality of items before delivering them to camp locations including but not limited to fresh fruit, yogurt tubes, snacks, etc.
Administrative:
Adherence to State of Maryland Health Department, Maryland Youth Camp Safety Act and the American Camp Association Standards.
Valid driver’s license REQUIRED.
SERV Safe Food handler Certification or equivalent state issued certificate - PLUS.
Ability to communicate via email / text / phone and other work phone applications.
Multilingual English/Spanish - PLUS
Knowledge and experience with Kosher and Kosher style food - PLUS.
All food service employees will be required to complete the Food service Staff training and sign a Food service Staff Policy.
Physical Requirements:
Must be able to follow written and verbal instructions.
Able to use basic mathematics to add, subtract, multiply and divide and do calculations involving fractions, decimals and percentages.
Must be able to do medium to heavy work, exerting up to 50 lbs., Frequently performing such activities as climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, pulling, walking, pushing, lifting, etc.
Ability to stand and walk for long periods throughout the day.
MUST BE ABLE TO COMMUTE INDEPENDENTLY ON A DAILY BASIS.
Start date is flexible and can be as early as mid - April.
can be part time for May, but will require full time availability NO LATER than May 20th, 2026.
End date is Flexible, no earlier than August 15th.
MUST BE 18 OR OLDER.
