(Admitted to practice in federal courts is a plus!)Required Skills, Experience, & Abilities:Minimum of 10 years of insurance defense legal experienceNYS practice experience - 10 years in personal injury defense litigation from case inception up to trialMinimum of 10 years' experience conducting and defending depositions in Auto and premises liability casesMinimum of 10 years' experience appearing in Court before Judges in NYS (preferably downstate/Long Island)Knowledge of area courts; Member in good standing of the NY Bar AssociationExcellent organizational skills and ability to prioritize duties and time are a mustStrong communication, computer, and technological skills, and the ability to quickly leverage new A.I. toolsDemonstrated expertise and familiarity in the handling of claim cases and litigationStrong legal research and writing skillsRole:Our client currently has an in-house REMOTE opportunity for a Senior Staff Attorney to litigate cases primarily in Queens, Nassau, and Suffolk Counties. This position is an ideal fit for an experienced Attorney with significant litigation experience in Premises Liability (commercial and personal property), as well as Commercial and Personal Automobile accidents. The Senior Staff Attorney will work diligently to deliver the best possible result in pending litigation. In this position, the attorney reports to the Staff Legal Managing Attorney or Assistant Managing Attorney. The ideal candidate is an experienced Attorney with the ability to handle cases independently from inception to trial.Responsibilities:Handle complex and high-exposure litigationAnalyze intricate substantive and procedural legal and factual issues, conduct extensive, well-reasoned legal research, and independently develop and present defense strategies on behalf of a variety of clientsPrepare complex pleadings, written discovery, depositions, motions, and briefs in support of defense strategies with minimal supervision because of the level of experience and expertiseProvide effective and timely communications, information, legal advice, and other services to clients and claims partners on legal and factual issues in a technology-driven environmentCommunicate respectfully with the Court, clients, claims partners, witnesses, opposing counsel, and co-counsel in a manner consistent with established office procedures and professional standards.Provide for the prompt, efficient, and effective disposition of assigned casesIndependently prepare and present witnesses and evidence at depositionResearch, draft, file, and argue discovery and dispositive motions on behalf of clientsProvide opinions to the Managing Attorney, Assistant Managing Attorney, staff, clients, and claims customers**Only those lawfully authorized to work in the designated country associated with the position will be considered.****Please note that all Position start dates and duration are estimates and may be reduced or lengthened based upon a client's business needs and requirements.**Benefits:For information and details on employment benefits offered with this position, please visithere.
