Currently, we have a Senior Project Engineer opportunity located in Park City, UT to focus on residential projectsExperience/TrainingBachelor's degree or 4+ years of related experience working on residential or commercial construction projects; or equivalent combination of education and experienceCritical SkillsExtensive knowledge in Request for Information (RFI’s), Submittals, Change Management, and schedule development processesKnowledge in change management processAbility to read, understand, and interpret drawings, specifications, and vendor dataAbility to develop and write work package Scope of WorksExtensive knowledge of established construction and maintenance practices, procedures and techniques as well as applicable local, state and federal building codesFamiliarity with a wide range of equipment and tools, and proficiency in skilled construction, maintenance and repair tasksAdvanced understanding of construction scheduling and cost controlThorough and attentive to details; ability to prioritize and multitask; proactive and deadline-orientedAbility to read and understand work orders, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manualsAbility to interact effectively with customers, vendors and employees at all levels of the organizationAbility to read and comprehend complex instructions, correspondence, memos, blue prints, construction documents, contract documents and specificationsAbility to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients and other employees of the organizationAbility to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete and abstract variables in situations where only limited standardization existsPossess strong computer skills; proficient in MS Excel, MS Word and MS Outlook, and document editing software (e.g., BlueBeam, Adobe Acrobat, etc.). Ability to navigate and/or use CAD softwareProficient in Project Management software (e.g., Prolog, etc.) to help develop and track administrative aspects of the construction process such as meeting minutes, submittals, and Requests for Information (RFIs)Duties, Responsibilities and Expectations: (other duties may be assigned to meet business needs) Maintains construction drawingsUtilizes and maintains the company standard project administration software, Procore, and Big-D formsMaintains up-to-date construction drawings and as-builtsPrepare and manage procurement tracking logs to correlate with the project schedule and the demands of the projectVisits each project site prior to the commencement of construction, and video records all areas that might by impacted by the constructionMaintains the electronic and hard copy project folders as requested by the project manager Provides the required up-to-date copies of drawings and specifications to subcontractorsQuality Assurance/Quality Control: Assists superintendent in verifying that all materials installed coincide with the approved submittalsAttends and participates in applicable meetings, such as the job “kick off” meeting, weekly project meeting, monthly project manager-superintendent meeting, owner-architect (OAC) meeting, monthly job review meeting, and management report meeting (upon request).Assists the project manager in creating a project directory of owner, architect, team, and subcontractors using the company’s construction management software, Prolog, or other appropriate software programEnsures that the project site and construction activities are being constantly documented in writing and especially in photosFiles hard or electronic inspection reports, test reports, etc.Follows the job closeout process by doing the following: start process Day 1 of project; finish final completion within 30 days of substantial; obtain final payment within 60 days of substantial; settle subcontractors financially within 30 days of substantial; and assist the project manager and superintendent to administer and track completion of punch lists promptly. As necessary, after 11 months of project completion; set up, manage, and complete the 1-yr warranty walkMonitors and enforces, along with project team, Big-D safety and OSHA safety standards to maintain a safe working environment for all employees, and site visitorsProcesses Requests for Information (RFIs) and all other change documentsReceives, researches, and creates RFIs based on field issues or document discrepancies; reviews with the project team; and forwards to the design teamDistributes RFI responses to all appropriate subcontractors and/or suppliers and Big-D employees, and tracks any cost impacts associated with RFI responsesUpdates construction drawings with change documents and RFI responses, and maintains RFI log. Prints log for discussion at weekly owner meetingsProcesses submittals:Creates submittals schedule and log based upon a thorough review of specification requirementsReviews submittals for compliance with plans and specifications and other construction documents; marks, stamps, and transmits information to architectReturns reviewed submittals and maintains log (tracking outstanding submittals, rejected submittals, etc.)Maintains well organized file (hard or electronic) of all submittals for reference throughout projectControls, monitors, and reviews with the superintendent the necessary long-lead procurement items and statusSubmits operations & maintenance manuals and other pertinent close-out documents to architect and owner for project close-outProcesses change orders:Requests proposal and other contract document changes from subcontractors with changes, reviews with project team, and distributes to appropriate subcontractorsCompiles quotations, reviews pricing with project manager, and prepares change order request'.Submits change order requests to architect and owner and maintains log of PRs, CORs, and COsProvides quantity take-offs for self-performed work activitiesUpdates construction drawings with approved changesMaintains meeting minutes:Develops and regularly updates, as needed, the meeting agenda, with the project teamRecords, compiles, and distributes meeting notes with review from project manager/superintendentRegular, timely, and predictable attendance is required for this positionOn larger scale projects and/or as required to complete the project the Project Engineer may be required to work from the jobsite trailer to manage the project.
