QC Receiving Inspector

Receiving InspectorJM Fabrication is seeking a Receiving Inspector responsible for verifying that all incoming materials, parts, and outside-processed items conform to purchase order requirements and basic quality expectations before they enter production.This is a first-line quality control role. It is not engineering and not advanced inspection. The Receiving Inspector's job is to catch obvious problems early and prevent bad material from contaminating the shop.Primary ResponsibilitiesIncoming Material and Part VerificationReceive and inspect raw materials, machined parts, fabricated components, and outside-processed itemsCompare received items directly against purchase order requirements, packing slips, certifications and documentationVerify part numbers, revisions, quantities, and conditionMeasurement and InspectionPerform basic dimensional checks using standard inspection tools, including calipers, micrometers, height gauges, thread gaugesVerify obvious features such as overall dimensions, hole sizes, thickness, threadsIdentify damage, corrosion, surface defects, or handling issuesEscalate complex measurements, tight tolerances, or ambiguous conditions to QualityDocumentation ReviewVerify presence and correctness of required documentation, including material certifications, Certificates of Conformance (CoC), heat lot numbers, plating or processing certs when applicableEnsure documentation matches PO requirements, material type, specification, revision, and quantityFlag missing, incorrect, or incomplete documentation immediatelyReceiving and Inventory ControlPerform accurate counts of received itemsIdentify overages, shortages, and mismatchesEnsure proper identification and traceability labeling before release to inventory or productionSegregate and clearly identify nonconforming materialCommunication and EscalationCommunicate discrepancies promptly to Purchasing, Quality, and OperationsPrevent nonconforming material from entering production under any circumstancesSupport corrective actions related to receiving issuesRequired QualificationsExperience in manufacturing receiving or inspection environmentAbility to read and interpret purchase orders and basic drawingsProficiency with basic measurement toolsStrong attention to detail, no guessing, no assumptionsWillingness to stop bad material even when it slows things downBasic computer skills for ERP or receiving systemsPreferred ExperienceAerospace, defense, or regulated manufacturing environmentFamiliarity with AS9100 or ISO-style quality systemsExperience working with metal raw stock and machined componentsPrior experience with ERP systems such as ProShop
