Position Summary The Controller serves as a vital part of the finance/accounting leadership team and is an integral part of all financial reporting functions. This role is responsible for accuracy, compliance, and integrity across core financial processes, including the general ledger, financial reporting, reconciliations, tax compliance, and regulatory filings. The Controller is instrumental in promoting financial transparency, informing strategic decision-making, and ensuring continued adherence to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). Key Responsibilities Financial Reporting & AnalysisOversee the reconciliation of general ledger balances to supporting documentationLead the preparation and submission of borrowing base reports and other required regulatory filingsCoordinate tax compliance efforts with the Association's tax accounting firmAnalyze financial results and ensure accurate representation to both internal and external stakeholdersSupport business plan preparationAdhere to budgetary compliance and constraintsPrepare/review financial reports, including shareholder reports and call reports Reconciliation & General Ledger OversightOversee the accuracy of month-end financial reconciliationsEnsure supporting documentation is complete, accurate, and properly maintained Accounts Payable OversightOversee the accounts payable processEnsure documentation, approvals, and general ledger coding are complete and accurateAuthorize payments in accordance with established internal controls and approval delegations Tax & ComplianceOversee vendor tax documentation to support timely and accurate regulatory reporting and complianceOversee the annual filing of informational returns Fixed Assets ManagementManage fixed asset accounting and the validation of related transactionsEnsure depreciation calculations and annual inventory activities are completed accurately and on a timely basis Vendor ManagementMaintain accurate vendor records, including W-9 documentation and classificationMonitor vendor audit activity and ensure ongoing data accuracy Data SecurityEnsure confidentiality, integrity, and security of financial systems and client information Minimum Qualifications EducationBachelor's degree in accounting or a related field (required)Master's degree in accounting or a related field (preferred) ExperienceMinimum of 5 years of accounting experience, including:General ledger managementAccounts payable oversightFinancial statement preparationAn equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered CertificationsCertified Public Accountant (preferred) Knowledge & SkillsStrong knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)Strong written communication and grammar skillsWorking knowledge of internal controls over financial reportingAbility to interpret financial results for leadershipAbility to maintain internal controls in a regulated environmentAbility to manage deadlines across recurring reporting cyclesAbility to balance technical accounting precision with effective business communication across multiple business segmentsStrong financial reporting and financial statement preparation skillsExceptional attention to detail and accuracyAbility to develop and execute effective work plans Scope of ResponsibilityManage invoice approval authority per established thresholdsOversee payment processing of over 2,000 vendorsManage 100-150 journal entries per monthOversee approximately 100 financial reconciliations annually Compensation & Benefits Farm Credit of Western Oklahoma offers a competitive compensation and benefits package designed to support employees' health, financial well-being, work-life balance, and professional growth, including:401(k) retirement plan with employer matchPaid time off, including vacation, holidays, and sick leaveComprehensive medical, dental, and vision insuranceFlexible spending accounts and health savings account optionsProfessional development and continuing learning opportunitiesMeaningful opportunity to support agriculture and rural communitiesHybrid work flexibility may be considered based on qualifications and work experienceBranch office location for this role is flexible To apply, please forward your resume to sandy.jones@farmcreditloans.com Farm Credit of Western Oklahoma is an Equal Opportunity Employer committed to fostering a diverse workplace and a positive work environment.
