DSP (Caregiver) Part-Time
Job Summary
As a Direct Support Professional, you will be responsible for providing assistance and care to individuals with disabilities or special needs. This can include in the following areas such as assisting with daily living activities, supporting social and community involvement, health and wellness, providing emotional support, and helping with life skills.
Key Responsibilites
Assisting with bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting if needed.
Helping with meal preparation and feeding.
Assisting with mobility, either by walking or helping with the use of assistive devices like wheelchairs.
Reporting any health concerns or changes in condition to supervisors
Encouraging individuals to develop and maintain independent living skills.
Helping with basic tasks such as cooking, cleaning, or budgeting.
Teaching skills related to social interactions, time management, or problem-solving.
Facilitating or assisting with participation in recreational activities or social events.
Helping individuals engage in activities outside the home, such as shopping or attending social gatherings.
Encouraging positive social behaviors and interactions.
Managing challenging behaviors through positive reinforcement and de-escalation techniques.
Following individualized plans developed by behavior specialists as applicable.
Maintaining a safe environment for both the individual and others.
Skills
- Ability to assist individuals with mobility challenges
- Proficiency in developing and implementing care plans
- Knowledge of behavioral interventions (BSP)
- Understanding of individual rights and advocacy principles
- Familiarity with home care procedures and supporting individuals with autism spectrum disorder
- Awareness of HIPAA regulations and privacy practices
Must have an active driver's license and reliable transportation.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: From $19.50 per hour
