Wound Care Nurse RN or LPN
Key ResponsibilitiesWound assessment and treatment:Evaluate wounds to determine their type, stage, and size, and then create and implement individualized treatment plans. Wound care procedures:Perform wound care duties such as cleaning, debriding (removing dead tissue), and applying dressings, while ensuring sterile techniques are used. Monitoring and documentation:Monitor patient progress and document all care provided. This includes documenting for reimbursement purposes, such as Medicare. Education:Educate residents, their families, and other staff on wound care, infection prevention, and injury prevention techniques, particularly focusing on preventing pressure ulcers. Collaboration:Work closely with a multidisciplinary team, including physicians, to coordinate care and make necessary adjustments to treatment plans. Order writing:Write nursing orders that support wound healing and help prevent skin breakdown. Infection control:Monitor for signs of infection and implement protocols to prevent it. Staying current:Keep up-to-date with the latest wound care research, techniques, and products.Education RequirementsHigh School Diploma Current RN/LPN License
