Project Architect (Healthcare)

What We're Looking For:Barge Design Solutions is seeking an experienced Project Architect with a strong background in acute healthcare projects to join our Nashville team. This role will serve as a technical leader and key client partner, responsible for driving project design, coordination, and delivery from concept through construction. The ideal candidate is a licensed architect who thrives in a collaborative environment, takes ownership of project outcomes, and is passionate about delivering high-quality healthcare environments that meet complex regulatory and operational needs.ResponsibilitiesLead architectural design and technical execution for acute healthcare projects (hospitals, surgical centers, medical facilities)Serve as the primary technical lead, ensuring design quality, code compliance, and constructabilityCollaborate closely with clients, consultants, and internal teams throughout all project phasesCoordinate multidisciplinary efforts across structural, mechanical, electrical, and civil teamsDevelop and review construction documents, specifications, and technical detailsGuide project teams in planning, budgeting, and schedulingParticipate in client meetings, presentations, and design discussionsConduct site visits to monitor project progress and resolve field issuesMentor and provide direction to junior architects and designersStay current on healthcare design trends, codes, and regulatory requirements (FGI, HIPAA, etc.)Education & Experience Qualifications:Bachelor's or Master's degree in Architecture from an accredited programLicensed Architect (RA) required4-10+ years of experience, with a strong focus on acute healthcare projectsProven experience leading projects and coordinating multidisciplinary teamsStrong knowledge of building codes, healthcare regulations, and permitting processesProficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, Microstation and other design softwarePreferred Qualifications: Experience with large-scale hospital systems or complex healthcare facilities/Familiarity with Lean design, evidence-based design, or healthcare planning strategies/Experience working in a consulting or AEC firm environmentWhy join us?Barge Design Solutions, Inc., is an engineering and architecture firm with diverse in-house multidisciplinary practice areas.
