As a Nurse Tech/Medication Tech in our facility, you will work with a team of highly qualified individuals, to provide quality care to our residents.As a Nurse Tech/Medication Tech joining our team, your primary responsibilities will be working in collaboration with our clinical team to:Administers scheduled medications prescribed for routine administration Knows and upholds pharmacological principles, procedures and safety precautions with all medicationsAdministers oral, ophthalmic, ear, nasal, transdermal, meter dosed inhalants and simple wound treatmentMay administer PRN medications only upon the direction of a licensed nurseMay perform blood glucose monitoring (i.e. accu-checks) after a successful return skill demonstrationComplies with the Residents Bill of Rights Reports to nurse when coming on duty and going off duty. Obtains assignments and specific directions from Unit Nurse or RN supervisorReports to unit nurse any physical or emotional change in resident’s status/needs, in safe conditions and maintenance problems immediately.Takes and records blood pressure and pulse as indicated in conjunction with prescribed medication therapy and/or those necessary to maintain ongoing observation of a resident.Works effectively and cooperatively as a team member with nursing staff Knowledgeable of medication actions, medication effects on body systems and side effects, especially in the geriatric populationMust be able to understand and effectively carry out verbal and written instruction Must be able to administer medications to elderly, confused and emotionally upset residents in a safe and mature manner and ability to accurately document this activity.Qualifications:Either be a Certified Medication Technician or a nursing student who has passed pharmacology. Must have successfully completed the State of Wisconsin Medication Assistant Training ProgramMust be a Certified Nursing Assistant in Wisconsin; in good standingsMust adhere to all safety security, infection control (including Universal Precautions) and hazardous materials policies and procedures, Must be able to physically lift 30 pounds and push a med cartMust be able to stand or walk 6-8 hours in an 8 hour shiftMust be able to occasionally bend, squat and twist body during an 8 hour day.Must be willing to work rotating weekends and an assigned holiday scheduleNurse Techs QualificationsMust be enrolled in a state approved Nursing Program with good standing, have passed a pharmacology course.Must continue to progress in the nursing program and provide documentation of skills set acquiredNurse Techs may do additional skills after return skill demonstration May chart under the direction of the charge RNIf this describes you, we would love to have you join our clinical Team of qualified, caring, empathetic individuals.
