VP Model Risk Audit
We are partnered with a global financial institution seeking a Vice President to join its Internal Audit function, with a focus on Model Risk Management. This individual will play a key role in leading audits across the model risk framework, with exposure to a broad range of models supporting capital markets, banking, and risk functions. The role sits within a well-established audit platform but offers the opportunity to have real influence on how model risk is assessed and challenged across the organization.This is a high-impact, visible opportunity to operate across a complex, global environment, working closely with senior stakeholders while helping shape audit coverage in an area of increasing regulatory focus.Key Responsibilities:Lead and execute end-to-end audits focused on Model Risk Management, covering planning, fieldwork, reporting, and issue validationAssess model governance frameworks across the full model lifecycle, including development, validation, implementation, and ongoing monitoringReview model documentation and challenge assumptions, methodologies, and controls in line with regulatory expectationsEvaluate the effectiveness of internal controls supporting model risk and broader risk management frameworksContribute to audit planning, risk assessment, and continuous monitoring activities across the model risk portfolioPerform validation of audit findings, regulatory issues, and management remediation effortsPartner closely with stakeholders across Risk, Compliance, and the business to provide practical, sustainable recommendationsEngage with regulators and external auditors as part of ongoing audit and review activitySupport and mentor junior team members while driving quality and consistency in audit executionContribute to broader internal audit initiatives, including process improvement, reporting, and global coordinationQualifications:5–8+ years of experience within internal audit, model risk, risk management, or a related control function within financial servicesExperience reviewing or auditing models and assessing model governance frameworksStrong understanding of regulatory expectations related to Model Risk Management (e.g., SR 11-7)Exposure to capital markets, banking, or broker-dealer environments is preferredStrong communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with senior stakeholders and translate technical conceptsBachelor’s degree required; advanced degree or certifications (CPA, CIA, CISA, etc.) are a plusPlease apply directly, or email your updated CV to a.kelly@hwthree.com
