The position is responsible for adding to the team's efforts in all client activities including tax planning, compliance, and executing all tax projects effectively. This position will also develop tax planning techniques for clients and make general recommendations for additional services where appropriate. Primary responsibilities may include the following, among others:Meet and correspond with clients or potential clients regularlyMeet and correspond with other advisors or professionals including attorneys, CPAs, and investment advisors to collaborate on servicing shared clientsPrepare tax basis financial statements for small, family-owned entities; this may include reviewing clients’ internal financials and proposing adjustments to correct bookkeeping errorsSupport with annual tax return preparation and review for individuals, trusts, and business entities using tax software; this may include reviewing prepared returns or preparing returns for reviewResearch and analyze tax related compliance and planning questions utilizing available research toolsMaintain and update client files and records as appropriateBuild internal network to enhance efficiency of the team and promote tax service offeringAdd value to internal meetings by actively engaging in and being prepared for rigorous discussions centered around tax process, tax preparation issues and other matters that impact the effectiveness and efficiency of the tax teamEffectively communicate with colleagues and superiors on project status, open items, and assistance neededBased on business need, ability to travel for occasional on-site meetings and collaborationTechnology focused with opportunities to assist in developing and improving tax processesQualificationsMinimum Qualifications:3 or more years current public accounting experience preparing and reviewing income tax returnsThorough understanding of debits and credits and bookkeeping conceptsProficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, all Microsoft suiteProficiency in AdobeDesired Qualifications/SkillsExtensive knowledge of federal and state income tax lawsAdvanced degree in Tax from an accredited university (preferred)Supervisory experience preferredSelf-starter who can get started on projects and coach direct reportsStrong work ethic, professional demeanor, and client service focusExcellent verbal and written communication skillsAbility to demonstrate highest personal ethics, integrity, and confidentialityWHAT can you expect from your career at CAPTRUST?Our colleagues, like our clients, tend to stay with CAPTRUST for years.
