Reports to: Director of DevelopmentDepartment: DevelopmentStatus: Full-time, Non-exemptSalary Range: $31-$33/hourBenefits: EligibleLocation: Los Angeles, CA (Hybrid)Organizational Overview Griffith Observatory Foundation (the Foundation) is the exclusive non-profit partner of Griffith Observatory, which is owned and operated by the City of Los Angeles Department of Recreation and Parks. The Foundation’s mission is to support and promote Griffith Observatory as a home for science literacy, education, and public astronomy through resource development and advocacy in partnership with the community.Summary of Position Reporting to the Director of Development, the Database Manager manages the daily operations of the Foundation's CRM database, Blackbaud Altru (Altru), to ensure accurate data; reliable reporting; and a smooth guest, member, and donor experience in support of departmental and program goals.The Database Manager is responsible for the oversight and optimal use of the cross-departmental Altru database for all Foundation programs including development, communications, membership, reservations, education, and events. This includes managing direct development services, including entry, processing, and acknowledgement of all contributions, and providing data reporting services for the Foundation’s Development team and Director of Finance and Administrative Services.This position will work closely with the Development Manager to maintain accurate member information, process new and renewed memberships, and support membership strategies that strengthen the donor pipeline. In addition to managing the Foundation's constituent database, the Database Manager serves as a strategic partner to the Development team by providing fundraising analytics and reporting, prospect management support, and data-driven insights that inform fundraising strategy and campaign decision-making. This position will be an integral member of the Foundation’s four-person Development team.This is a full-time (40 hours per week, flexibly scheduled) position. Depending on candidate experience, the salary range will be $31-$33 per hour. In order to provide direct hands-on support for staff, the schedule will be based on business needs and flexibility will be important.Database Management Responsible for the optimal functionality of the Altru databaseManage daily gift processing, acknowledgement, and reconciliation for all incoming gifts and pledges; ensuring the correct reporting of daily entries to the Director of Finance and Administrative Services; and notifying appropriate staff about new giftsDevelop and maintain complex Altru applications for Development department focusing on specific areas or projects; design, develop and provide queries and reports from Altru to meet specific needsBuild, automate, and manage daily, weekly, and monthly reports and dashboards supporting revenue tracking, prospect management, and financial reporting. Reconcile contributed income on a monthly basis with Director of Finance and Administrative Services with support from Development ManagerWork closely with Director of Finance and Administrative Services to ensure consistent and accurate gift codingCoordinate, review, and prepare acknowledgement letters for all areas of giving within a 48-hour turn aroundManage Social Good Software integration with Altru, covering event and donation checkouts, event and program registration, membership registration, and constituent email automations, overseeing backend functionality while collaborating with Communications, Events, and Development on frontend and guest experienceProduce and maintain segmented mailing lists from Altru for direct mailings and Constant Contact email communicationsProvide Altru quality control; investigate and resolve data and reporting inconsistencies; develop and implement workflow, data entry, collection, and reporting proceduresDevelop written documentation, internal operating procedures, and end-user instructionsProvide Altru training for all staff and volunteers, notify staff of changes to data entry and operational policies and procedures, and provide ongoing technical assistanceServe as the Foundation's primary point of contact and system administrator for Blackbaud and Social Good, managing maintenance and product issues, and supporting annual contract negotiationsSupport Square and advise on Griffith Observatory POS databases as neededAssist Griffith Observatory IT service team with database related troubleshooting and technology requestsOccasional need to contact members/donors/board members to resolve questions, inconsistencies, and missing data related to their donationsGeneralSupport Foundation events through onsite staffing (i.e. weekend and evening programming)Support Member reservation fulfillment as neededProvide the highest quality service to all stakeholders in every interactionUphold all of the Foundation’s policies, procedures, guidelines, and standardsMaintain flexibility and perform other duties as assigned to respond to the needs of the organization Minimum Qualifications3+ years of experience managing a CRM database, preferably Altru or other Blackbaud product, which includes troubleshooting problems, analyzing information and data, building queries and reports, and creating operational policies and proceduresExperience with Social Good Software (or comparable e-commerce/constituent checkout tools)Effective cross-functional collaborative capacity. Ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively within a team.
