Compliance Specialist-Import/Export (ITAR-FAR-DFAR) Industry: Defense Manufacturing Location: Stafford, VA --- Hybrid --- 2-3 days per week in office Relocation Provided: Yes Salary Estimated: $105,000-$120,000 Depending on Experience Job Overview: The Compliance Specialist ensures the organization complies with all applicable federal laws, regulations, and contractual requirements related to government contracting. The role supports the company's ethics and compliance program and ensures adherence to regulations, including the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR), Defense Federal Acquisition Regulation Supplement (DFARS), export control laws (ITAR/EAR), and import control laws. Minimum Requirements:3+ years of experience in compliance and government contracting within the aerospace and defense industrySubject matter expertise in ITAR and EAR export controlsSubject matter expertise in ATF import controlsKnowledge of Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) and Defense Federal Acquisition Regulation Supplement (DFARS)Strong analytical, problem-solving, and risk assessment skillsExcellent written and verbal communication skillsMust be Tech Savvy and have the ability to work alongside IT in order to understand cybersecurity clearance frameworks and facilitate form completions, etc.Ability to interpret complex regulatory requirements and apply them to business operationsStrong documentation, audit preparation, and compliance reporting capabilitiesAbility to obtain or maintain a U.S. security clearance if required by contractAbility to obtain a valid U.S. passport to support potential international travel related to contract compliance activities Preferred Requirements:Prefer to have expereince with cybersecurity frameworks such as NIST SP 800-171 and Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification (CMMC)Bachelor's degree in Business, Law, Compliance, Finance, or a related field is preferredCertified Compliance & Ethics Professional (CCEP)Certified Internal Auditor (CIA)Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) for cybersecurity compliance rolesDefense Contract Audit Agency (DCAA)Defense Contract Management Agency (DCMA) Responsibilities: Export and Security ComplianceSupport compliance with export control regulations, including ITAR and the Export Administration Regulations (EAR)Coordinate with security and IT teams to support cybersecurity frameworks such as NIST SP 800-171 and Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification (CMMC) ATF Import & LicensingPrepare and manage ATF Form 6 (Part I) applications for permanent importation of firearms, ammunition, and implements of warExecute ATF Form 6A for the release of defense articles from U.S. Customs custody and ensure serial numbers are reported to ATF within 15 days of releaseMaintain and renew company AECA registration for U.S. Munitions Import List (USMIL) articles using ATF Form 4587Manage renewal and compliance of Federal Firearms Licenses (FFL) and Federal Explosives Licenses (FEL), including Responsible Person designations Regulatory ComplianceMonitor compliance with federal government contracting regulations, including FAR and DFARSInterpret regulatory requirements and communicate impacts to internal stakeholdersTrack regulatory updates from agencies such as the U.S. Department of Defense and update policies as required Policy and Procedure ManagementDevelop, update, and maintain internal compliance policies and proceduresMaintain documentation supporting regulatory and contractual compliance obligations Audits and Risk ManagementConduct internal compliance reviews and risk assessmentsSupport external audits and reviews from government agencies such as DCAA and DCMATrack corrective actions and ensure remediation of compliance gaps Training and AwarenessProvide employee training on ethics, government contracting compliance, export controls, and regulatory requirementsPromote awareness of the company's compliance program and reporting mechanisms Investigations and ReportingAssist with investigations involving potential compliance violations, conflicts of interest, or ethics concernsPrepare reports and maintain records related to compliance monitoring activities
