Shift Supervisor

About the PositionThe Shift Supervisor is responsible for planning and assigning work, implementing policies/procedures, and recommending improvements in production methods, equipment, and operating procedures. The supervisor must be able to utilize performance metrics, improve working conditions (safety, quality, productivity, and cost) and increase subordinates' skills and capabilities.Key ResponsibilitiesPerform all work in accordance with safety guidelinesStrip quality checks and facing verificationsCommunicate issues found in the quality lab to the floorVerify employee’s timecardParticipate in safety meetings, audits, and walkthroughsParticipate in support team meetingsCorrect mistakes and make adjustments in ERP systemCreate and revise forms, DPS, and master listsComplete training charts & setup sheetsIdentify materials without tagsPerform corrective actions on safety, food safety, ISO, customer complaintsParticipate in safety investigationsTroubleshoot lines and materialsSchedule production lines including coverage for weekends, vacations and absenteeismPerform ISO internal auditsTrack and reorder supplies Distribute PPE and toolsTrack and post slitter/operator efficienciesTrain in procedures, safety, and qualityEnsure safety, productivity, and quality of production floor meet established targetsComplete performance reviews for direct reportsPrint out drop strip ID sheetsPrint and cut flag recon sheetsEnforce and hold employees accountable to company policies and rulesIssue employee disciplinary corrective action when necessaryIssue DPS numbers and distribute new procedures, forms and setup sheetsCreate EPAK training units for ITOversee and direct operator training effortsMaintain and calibrate PH metersMaintain quality database of all support team sheets and include price valuesCheck backflush tags in ERP system and zero out after they are turned inDetermine staffing needs for production and direct training of employeesQualificationsExperience RequiredSatisfactorily perform each essential duty5 years in manufacturing environmentEducation RequiredHigh School diploma requiredAssociate’s or Bachelor’s degree preferredLocation and scheduleThe Shift Supervisor will be located at Selig’s facility in Forrest, IL. Required to cover supervision of employees in a facility that is currently 225,000 ft2. This position is eligible for straight overtime pay for hours worked in excess of the regular schedule. The RelationshipsThe Shift Supervisor will report to the Production Manager in Forrest, IL.
