The position will also support engineering and production activities through designing, testing, and debugging embedded systems along with documentation including user guides and application notes. This position requires a general interest in working with customers and dealing with any field issues and providing highest level of satisfaction for the customer.Reports to: Senior Manager of EngineeringLocation: Eden Prairie, MN officeStarting Salary Information: $100,000+Key Responsibilities: Supervisory ResponsibilitiesThis role has no direct supervisory responsibilities but does serve as a coach and mentor for other positions in the departmentEssential Duties & ResponsibilitiesWork with architectural design of embedded processor platforms utilizing common peripherals including USB, video (HDMI, LVDS, MIPI-DSI), MIPI-CSI, audio, Ethernet, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, flash memory, DRAM, CAN, SPI, UART, etc.Build images and drivers for board support packages (BSPs) in Linux, Android, FreeRTOS, and any other required operating systemMust be an expert in Linux and have good working knowledge of AndroidHelp define, review, and execute hardware design verification test plansTest and debug new embedded processor design implementationsAbility to provide detailed and extensive system-level schematic reviews (e.g., review hardware, component specifications, and understand system interaction including software)Help provide technical input to assist in the definition of product design requirementsManage workload across multiple simultaneous design projectsConduct technical trainings to team, distribution partners, and customersExcellent communication skills to work with customers and partners and help resolve issues and suggest ideas for debugging or developingGood understanding of the processes and systems for releasing customer-facing documents and managing the support portalGood understanding of the ticket system and the workflow for closing the tickets using a standard tool like Zohos or Jira.Essential Responsibilities Of All Beacon EmbeddedWorks EmployeesSupport, demonstrate and drive our core valuesLead, don't followConsistently deliverNever stand stillCreate relationships not transactionsInteract positively and professionally with all employees and customersMaintain reliable attendancePerform work safely and adhere to all safety requirementsComplete required training as scheduledPerform other duties as assignedJob QualificationsRequired Qualifications:Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science or related Engineering discipline with 10 years of experience as an applications engineer (or MS with 8 years of experience)Experience working with logic analyzers, oscilloscopes, and JTAG debuggersExperience with embedded processors (ARM) Experience with embedded operating systems (Linux, Android, FreeRTOS)High degree of self-motivationExcellent verbal and written communications skillsStrong sense of urgency, and ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks and meet deadlinesAbility to work in a fast-paced environment with quickly changing priorities to ensure superior customer satisfactionExposure to tools like Jira, Git and Zohos for ticket management and software control Other ConsiderationsPhysical DemandsThe physical demands and work environment described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
