This position will serve as the bridge between Fever basketball and the business, working with stakeholders throughout the organization and in the community to support Indiana Fever players in all aspects of off-court development. This position will be a blend of hands-on and strategic work, and we are looking for a relationship-oriented leader who is just as comfortable managing player ticket requests as they are presenting a new program proposal to our CEO. Our ideal candidate is exceptional at relationship-building, has strong communication skills, and has a deep knowledge and passion for women’s basketball. They have an appreciation for and a demonstrated history of aligning player and community engagement efforts.Essential Duties And Responsibilities Serve as the primary contact and liaison for all player-related requests and manage all player engagement activity (excluding media) for the Indiana Fever. Develop and implement player engagement activities or programs for the Indiana Fever. Oversee and schedule the off-season team marketing agreements, following the guidelines set forth by the WNBA and its collective bargaining agreement. Develop and execute strategies that align player and community engagement for maximum impact. Work alongside the PS&E business to: Strategize and plan player appearances for the season (including team mandatories) based on player interests and strengths, community needs, and company priorities. Ensure compliance with the WNBA Collective Bargaining Agreement. Develop individual player marketing plans for each player including social media publication and promotions. Schedule and plan for corporate interactions / meetings involving players and coaches. Function as an advocate for both the players and the franchise when working with stakeholders. Communicate clearly and consistently with Fever personnel, player agents, PS&E departments, team security, and WNBA player relations staff when it comes to player schedules, appearances, needs, and resources. Serve as a trusted resource to players when it comes to: Their transition to / from the Indiana Fever including resources and information regarding the city and organization. Information regarding financial development, post-playing career, mental health services, and other off-court needs. Acting a liaison between the players and their loved ones. Integrating players into the franchise and working with them to achieve their individual goals and those of the franchise. Develop and implement a plan for engaging Fever alumni with the franchise. Manage the administration of the day-to-day player engagement responsibilities including but not limited to: Maintaining and updating player resources such as the team guidebook, player appearance calendars (in-season and off-season), player alumni database, photos for the Fever Family & Friends wall, and more. Coordinating logistics for player appearances including requesting required PS&E staff (photographer, digital team, broadcast team, team security, etc.) based on the needs of the appearance. Implementing a pre- and post-season player survey to gather feedback. Tracking and managing the player engagement budget including the payment of off-season team marketing agreements. Managing the home game experience for player family and friends including coordinating and distributing tickets, credentials, and family room passes; ensuring the smooth operation of the Fever family room; coordinating food and beverage options with Levy; managing the relationship with our external childcare service; and more. Maintaining inventory of collateral materials (player photos, sharpies, etc.) for player engagement events or appearances. Coordinating monthly team autograph sessions and player engagement lunches. Ensuring player engagement representation at all Fever practices and shootarounds. Maintain confidentiality when dealing with information that can be highly sensitive, personal, and proprietary. Must be able to work a flexible schedule that can include events on nights, weekends, and potentially holidays. Some travel will be required for this position. Other duties as assigned. Previous experience working in basketball is required. Additional experience working in women’s basketball, professional sports, player relations, or community engagement is highly preferred. Excellent communication, relationship-building, and interpersonal skills. Strong computer skills and working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite. Must have the ability to maintain confidentiality and use discretion when dealing with highly sensitive information. Language SkillsAbility to read, analyze, and interpret instructions and reports.
