Software Engineer Under general supervision, design, develop, troubleshoot, and analyze software programs for computer-based systems. Perform system modeling, simulation, and analysis. Design and develop compilers, assemblers, utility programs, and operating systems. Provide inputs for documentation of new or existing programs as required.ResponsibilitiesDesign, develop, and troubleshoot software programs for computer-based systems.Perform system modeling, simulation, and analysis.Design and develop compilers, assemblers, utility programs, and operating systems.Provide inputs for documentation of new or existing programs.Conduct software requirements review, preliminary and critical design reviews, integration readiness review, and software acceptance reviews.Essential SkillsProficiency in C++ or Java programming in a Linux operating system.Experience in software design, design implementation, subsystem and system integration, and testing.Experience with software requirements review, preliminary and critical design reviews, integration readiness review, and software acceptance reviews.Knowledge of Integrated Development Environments (IDEs) such as Eclipse.Familiarity with object-oriented programming, UML, embedded programming, and UNIX.Additional Skills & QualificationsExperience with Object-Oriented design/development and the employment of Design Patterns.2+ years of experience developing software with C++.Experience with Python and Bash is a plus.Experience working in Windows, Solaris, and Linux environments.Experience developing scripts for Solaris and other variants of UNIX.Familiarity with xUnit framework, especially JUnit and CppUnitLite.Experience with CMMI Level 5 life cycle processes and procedures.Work EnvironmentWork will be performed at a facility, supporting a stable work environment on a Defense program.
