Medical Laboratory Technician Location: Charleston, SC Agency: Cynet Health Pay: $1,863 per week Shift Information: Days - 5 days x 8 hours Contract Duration: 6 Weeks Start Date: 6/15/2026 About the Position Job Title: Medical Technologist II Profession: Medical Tech Specialty: Microbiology Duration: 6 weeks Shift: M-F, every other weekend Hours per Shift: 6:30 AM - 3:00 PM Experience: Minimum of 3 years of microbiology experience required License: ASCP, NCA, or AMT registered as MT/MLS/MLT required Certifications: B.S. in Medical Technology or Bachelor's degree with prerequisite coursework and clinical training required Must-Have: - Capable of operating laboratory instrumentation - Performing patient phlebotomy - Demonstrating superior work knowledge and ability to organize - Maintaining strict confidentiality of work-related information Description: Performs routine and special diagnostic procedures requiring technical skill, judgment, and independent decision-making. Follows established standards, policies, and procedures. Performs phlebotomy and accessioning duties as needed. Assists the Laboratory Supervisor in the technical and administrative functions of the laboratory. Must maintain strict confidentiality of work-related information. Responsible for testing procedures, quality control, and proficiency testing to ensure that test results meet quality standards. Verifies specimen integrity, sets priorities, evaluates and interprets data, and takes appropriate action per policy. Performs appropriate documentation and assists with the evaluation and implementation of new methods. Assists with the upkeep of policy/procedure manuals and CAP inspections. Works efficiently to prevent waste. Responsible for the proper operation of instruments, preventive maintenance, and troubleshooting. Operates lab instruments as assigned, performs instrument quality control, documents results, and takes appropriate action. Understands the theory of instrument operations and mechanical functions. Seeks help when necessary. Responsible for the proper use of laboratory information systems in ordering, receiving, canceling tests, and reviewing verification of results. Documents all actions appropriately in the computer system. Maintains patient confidentiality per established policies. Communicates information accurately, timely, clearly, and professionally to supervisors and coworkers. Follows through on communications and responds appropriately. Answers laboratory phones, directs parties, or provides appropriate information. Maintains good rapport with peers, management, and other healthcare professionals. Is aware of and follows laboratory and hospital policies and procedures. Informs supervisors of issues or problems involving safety. Maintains a safe work environment. Completes all mandatory education and participates in available continuing education programs. Performs other job duties and responsibilities as required. Work demands include frequent standing, walking, sitting, bending, and stooping. May require lifting or moving items up to 50 lbs. Frequent use of finger/hand dexterity and eye/hand coordination is necessary. Requires corrected hearing and vision to normal range. Normal color perception is needed for the interpretation of lab orders and proper collection technique. Exposure to blood, body fluids, or tissue is expected. May encounter communicable diseases and other conditions common to a laboratory environment. Fast-paced work environment may be interruptive and stressful.
