Special Education TeacherLocation: Berkeley Preparatory AcademyPosition Type: Full-Time, ExemptReports To: PrincipalPosition Overview:The Special Education Teacher is responsible for designing and implementing individualized education programs (IEPs) for students with special needs. This role involves collaborating with other educators and specialists to ensure each student's educational success.Key Responsibilities:Develop and implement IEPs for students with special needs. Provide individualized and small-group instruction to students with disabilities. Collaborate with general education teachers to modify curricula and assessments for students with special needs. Monitor student progress and adjust instructional strategies as needed. Maintain accurate and up-to-date student records, including IEP documentation. Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding student progress. Participate in team meetings to discuss student needs and progress Any other duties as assigned. Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in Special Education or related field. Valid South Carolina teaching certification in Special Education. Knowledge of special education laws and best practices. Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to work with diverse learners. Physical RequirementsWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to communicate effectively; sit, stand, walk, and use hands to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls. The employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. The role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and instructional materials. Noise level is typically moderate, but can be higher during student-centered activities or events.
