Sr. Accountant

DescriptionWe are looking for an experienced Sr. Accountant to support core accounting operations for a long-term contract opportunity in Middletown, Connecticut. This role focuses on maintaining accurate financial records, managing close activities, and ensuring balance sheet accounts are properly supported. The ideal candidate brings strong general ledger knowledge, a detail-oriented mindset, and the ability to work effectively in a deadline-driven environment.Responsibilities:- Lead assigned month-end close activities, ensuring financial results are recorded accurately and on schedule.- Prepare and post journal entries with appropriate supporting documentation and review for completeness.- Maintain the integrity of the general ledger by analyzing transactions and resolving discrepancies promptly.- Perform account reconciliations for key balance sheet accounts and follow through on outstanding items.- Complete bank reconciliations and investigate variances to ensure cash records remain accurate.- Review fixed asset activity, including additions, disposals, and depreciation-related accounting.- Support annual physical inventory efforts by validating records and assisting with inventory-related analysis.- Partner with internal stakeholders to gather financial information and improve the accuracy of reporting processes.Requirements - At least 3 years of accounting experience in a senior accountant or comparable role.- Hands-on experience managing month-end close responsibilities in a fast-paced environment.- Strong working knowledge of general ledger accounting and journal entry preparation.- Proven ability to complete account reconciliations and bank reconciliations with a high degree of accuracy.- Experience supporting fixed asset accounting and related financial reviews.- Familiarity with annual physical inventory processes and inventory validation activities.- Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and ability to meet deadlines consistently.Robert Half is the world's first and largest specialized talent solutions firm that connects highly qualified job seekers to opportunities at great companies.
