Occupational Therapist

Job Summary We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Occupational Therapist to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will provide comprehensive therapy services to patients across various settings, including inpatient, outpatient, home health, schools, and skilled nursing facilities. This role involves developing personalized care plans, assisting with activities of daily living (ADLs), and supporting patients with diverse needs such as disabilities, geriatrics, pediatrics, autism spectrum disorder, and post-acute recovery. The Occupational Therapist will play a vital role in improving patient independence and quality of life through evidence-based interventions and case management. Duties Conduct thorough assessments of patients’ functional abilities, including physiology, anatomy, and medical history. Develop and implement individualized care plans tailored to each patient’s needs and goals. Assist patients with activities of daily living (ADLs) such as dressing, grooming, and mobility. Provide therapy interventions for patients with disabilities, autism spectrum disorder, geriatrics, pediatrics, or recovering from acute or post-acute conditions. Support discharge planning by coordinating with healthcare teams and family members to ensure smooth transitions. Manage case documentation accurately and maintain detailed patient records in compliance with healthcare regulations. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including speech therapists, physical therapists, nurses, and physicians to optimize patient outcomes. Educate patients and caregivers on therapeutic exercises, adaptive techniques, and safety measures. Participate in community outreach programs or school-based services as needed. Requirements Valid licensure or certification as an Occupational Therapist in the relevant state or region. Proven experience working in inpatient settings such as ICU or acute care units is preferred. Experience with early intervention programs, outpatient clinics, skilled nursing facilities, home health services, or school environments is highly desirable. Strong knowledge of anatomy, physiology, medical terminology, and case management principles. Ability to work effectively with diverse populations including children with autism or developmental disabilities and older adults in geriatrics or occupational health contexts. Excellent communication skills for collaborating with healthcare teams and educating patients/families. Demonstrated ability to develop care plans that address individual patient needs comprehensively.
