Leveling the Fields is a programs-focused nonprofit dedicated to increasing the number of girls in sports, recognizing the strong correlation between sports participation and future leadership roles. We are committed to breaking down barriers and providing universal access to sports, regardless of financial constraints, geographical limitations, or lack of options. Through our EmpowerPlay and PlayFit programs, we aim to get more girls into sports, keep them engaged, and equip them with the tools needed to thrive as future leaders.EmpowerPlayThe EmpowerPlay Program is a dynamic multi-sport after-school program aimed at empowering girls through athletics and is designed specifically for girls in 3rd through 5th grade. The program is run onsite at the elementary school. Over the nine weeks, participants learn the fundamentals of each sport while building teamwork and confidence. Our program is designed to foster self-acceptance, positive body image, and good sportsmanship through our unique empowerment journal. For girls in low-income areas, the program is offered at no cost to families.PlayFitThe PlayFit Enrichment Program is a weekly add-on designed to complement existing after-school programs, offering a fun and engaging way for 3rd-5th grade girls to stay active and build confidence. The program focuses on a single sport, allowing participants to deepen their skills, and is available in a 6-week or 8-week format. With on-site coaching and equipment provided, PlayFit makes it easy for girls to explore sports and develop teamwork and leadership skills. This role ensures each program has coaches in place and they are prepared, supported, and aligned with LTF’s philosophy, curriculum, and expectations, while maintaining a high-quality, consistent coaching experience at every school.This role owns the coach experience.Core ResponsibilitiesCoach Recruitment & OnboardingRecruit coaches through community outreach, partner schools, and networks.Coordinate coach applications, interviews, background checks, and references.Facilitate coach onboarding and training sessions covering curriculum, expectations, and program philosophy.Ensure all coaches complete required documentation prior to program start.Coach Development & CommunicationProvide coaches with resources, training materials, and coaching tips to support effective program delivery.Foster a supportive environment where coaches can share experiences and best practices.Maintain consistent communication with coaches throughout each program cycle.Supervision & SupportServe as the primary point of contact for coaches during active programs.Troubleshoot issues related to behavior management, attendance, scheduling, or curriculum delivery.Recognize and celebrate coach contributions and milestones.Coordination & LogisticsCoordinate with Programs and site partners to ensure coaches receive schedules, materials, and expectations on time.Maintain alignment between coaches, school contacts, and program staff.Program Quality & EvaluationMeet with onsite representatives to gather feedback on coach performance.Participate in end-of-season evaluations to assess strengths and identify areas for growth.Recommend improvements to coach training, resources, or support systems based on feedback.Task Ownership (Clear Lines)Coaching Coordinator OWNS Coach recruitment, onboarding, and trainingOngoing coach communication and supportCoach experience, preparedness, and engagementCoach evaluation and feedback loopsCoaching Coordinator COLLABORATES WITH Programs Chair program standards, curriculum, and quality expectationsVolunteer Manager volunteer intake, records, and placement supportSchool Contacts schedules, site coordination, and feedbackCommunity Engagement Chair clinics or coach-led community events (as needed)Coaching Coordinator DOES NOT OWN Program curriculum creationFundraising or donor outreachMarketing or communicationsSchool contracts or agreementsQualificationsExperience coaching, teaching, or managing youth programs.Strong communication and leadership skills.Comfortable supporting volunteers and addressing challenges.Organized, proactive, and dependable.Passion for youth sports and positive development.Success Looks LikeCoaches feel supported, prepared, and connected.Consistent program delivery across all schools.Strong feedback from schools and participants.Clear processes for onboarding, training, and evaluation.
