Responsibilities:Evaluates and monitors school districts and private special education programs to ensure compliance with federal and state laws and regulations pertaining to the education of students with disabilities.Develops and implements policies and procedures governing in-state public and private special education programs and assists with the data collection for compliance indicators.Reviews, analyzes and approves new special education programs in accordance with New Hampshire Standards for the Education of Students with Disabilities. Reviews and approves district requests for in-state individual program approvals and out-of-state program approvals.Organizes training sessions on the effectiveness of local educational agency requirements and efforts to provide free appropriate public education to students with disabilities through analysis of programs.Analyzes and interprets departmental policy, rules and regulations affecting the delivery of educational services to students with disabilities to local school districts, private providers, parents of students with disabilities and the general public. Creates, designs and develops materials to assist and instruct the educational community, parents and other involved agencies to ensure the provisions of a free and appropriate public education.
