This position will be trained on day or afternoon shift, after training the shift will depend on union seniority. This position is responsible for the set-up and operation of numeric control/CNC machines and machining centers for diversified production work, while ensuring tolerances and specifications are maintained.Who You Are:2 years' experience in a manufacturing position preferredMachining Technology certification from SWIC or equivalent trade/vocational schoolHigh School Diploma/GED or international equivalentAble to read and interpret blueprints and engineering drawings/sketchesProficient in basic math and reading skillsUnderstanding of the Cartesian coordinate system (X-Y axis)Knowledge of geometric tolerancing and basic machine shop practicesSkilled in use of micrometers and precision measuring gagesSelf-motivated, safety-focused, and able to work independentlyWhat You Will Do:Set up and run NC/CNC machines for a variety of parts using engineering drawingsChange machine tools as necessaryInspect parts to required tolerances/specifications per in-process inspection, drawings, and visual requirementsFinish parts to meet quality standardsOperate hoist/overhead crane/forklift to position castingsUse hand/pneumatic tools as neededPerform routine equipment maintenance and minor assembly functionsMaintain acceptable production levels and report equipment/material problemsMake program changes and operate a laser trackerRecord data/metrics via paper or computer, including time and labor reportingDocument defects properly and perform general laboring activitiesWork safely and maintain a clean work environmentSafety, Quality, and Training:Always demonstrate awareness of safety requirements and wear appropriate PPEMachine and inspect castings to required tolerances and specificationsAccept training and coaching from supervision and machining resourcesWhat We Offer You:Autonomy to be an expert in a role that directly impacts the success of our global businessCompetitive wagesExcellent benefits package, including:401(k) with company matchMedical, dental, vision, and life insuranceShort- and long-term disabilityEmployee Assistance Program (EAP)Paid vacation and holidaysA career in an employee-owned company where your contributions matter and growth is encouragedAmsted Rail's Equal Opportunity Statement:Amsted Rail is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
