Barbering Adjunct Instructor

Position SummaryThe Barbering Instructor is responsible for the planning, preparation, presentation, and evaluation of classroom instruction and related activities. They will provide competent classroom and laboratory instruction in the area of credentialed expertise. The Instructor will adhere to the general and adjunct faculty guidelines as specified by the Alabama Community College System Board of Trustees and theDrake State Community and Technical College Personnel Handbook.This is a "continuous" posting and does not have a closing date. In addition, multiple forms of distance education are offered.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesThe part-time Barbering Adjunct Instructor shall perform the duties as specified in conformity with policies established by the Alabama Community College System Board of Trustees and the Drake State Community and Technical College Faculty and Staff Handbook:Provide quality classroom, online, and lab instruction in CosmetologyInform students concerning course requirements, evaluation procedures, attendance requirements and academic progressSeek continuous improvement in curriculum, instruction, and resourcesAssist with recruitment, retention, program completion and other student success effortsParticipate fully in the institutional planning process and assist in carrying out the overall instructional mission of the CollegePrepare and grade assignments, projects, and examinationsAssist in advising and registration as neededMaintain an inventory of assigned equipment and suppliesServe on college committees when requestedSubmit required reports to the Division Chair or Assistant Dean of InstructionInform students of educational and occupational opportunitiesProvide a proper instructional environment and maintain good human relations in the classroom so that learning is more effectiveMaintain student records as appropriateParticipate in faculty and professional organizationsRecommend library books and other instructional materialsMaintain compliance with college and program related accreditation and certification standardsRetain and submit documentation as requested to support accreditation effortsPerform other work-related responsibilities as assigned by the Division Chair, Assistant Dean of Instruction, Dean of Instruction, and/or the PresidentJob description may be modified or altered at any time by management.QualificationsREQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:Minimum of an earned Associate's degree from a regionally accredited institutionAwarded certificate and/or degree in Cosmetology or BarberingCosmetology/Barbering Instructor's licenseThree (3) years of successful full-time work experience as a Cosmetologist/BarberPREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:Earned Bachelor of Science degree from a regionally accredited institutionExperience with LMS or BannerPrior teaching experienceExcellent organizational skillsExcellent oral, auditory, and written communication skillsBasic Microsoft Office Suite skillsAbility to project a professional and congenial demeanorAbility to handle multiple tasksAbility to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, other employees, and the publicDESIRED PROFILE:Preference will be given to candidates who can demonstrate through their experiences and accomplishments:Understanding of and commitment to the philosophy and mission of a community and technical collegeSensitivity and commitment to cultural diversityAbility to handle multiple tasks and various situations in a calm, and professional mannerAbility to work well under pressure and deadlinesCommitment to teaching and learning, where recent high school graduates, adult students and non-traditional students are involvedApplication Procedures/Additional InformationApplicants must meet the minimum qualifications and must submit a complete application packet through the NEOED on-line application system to be considered.
