Job SummaryThe Intermediate School Orchestra Director is responsible for leading and developing the school orchestra program in the next three years of instruction on violin, viola, cello, and bass.Essential Functions And ResponsibilitiesTeach small group and large group lessons and rehearsals to beginning string students, focusing on proper posture, hand position, and characteristic tone production on orchestral string instruments.Develop and communicate a compelling artistic vision for the orchestra, selecting a diverse and challenging repertoire that enhances students' musical growth.Lead the orchestra in rehearsals and performances, providing expert instruction in technique, musicianship, and ensemble cohesion.Develop and implement effective rehearsal strategies that maximize productivity and artistic excellence.Offer individualized coaching and mentorship to students, fostering their technical skills, musicality, and confidence.Develop and implement a comprehensive curriculum that encompasses a wide range of musical styles and periods, promoting a well-rounded orchestral education.Encourage and support students in their pursuit of musical excellence, providing opportunities for solo and ensemble performances.Guide students in preparing for auditions, competitions, and further musical education or careers.Performs other duties as assigned by the administration.
