Emergency Medicine Physician (MD/DO)Position SummaryThe Emergency Medicine Physician provides immediate evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment of patients presenting with acute illness or injury in the emergency department. This role requires rapid clinical decision-making, management of high-acuity and undifferentiated patients, and coordination of care across multiple specialties to ensure timely, high-quality, patient-centered outcomes. Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesEvaluate, diagnose, and treat patients with a wide range of acute medical, surgical, and traumatic conditionsPerform emergency medical procedures, including airway management, resuscitation, procedural sedation, wound management, and fracture stabilization, consistent with training and privilegesRapidly assess and prioritize patients based on acuity and clinical urgencyInterpret diagnostic studies, including laboratory tests, imaging, and electrocardiogramsInitiate stabilization, treatment, and disposition plans, including admission, transfer, or dischargeCollaborate with consulting services, nursing staff, EMS, and ancillary teamsParticipate in trauma, stroke, STEMI, and sepsis response protocols, as applicableCommunicate effectively with patients and families regarding diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up careMaintain accurate, timely clinical documentationParticipate in quality improvement, patient safety, and departmental initiativesSupervise and educate residents, advanced practice providers, and learners, as applicableComply with all regulatory, accreditation, and professional standardsQualificationsDoctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) from an accredited medical schoolCompletion of an accredited emergency medicine residency programBoard-eligible or board-certified in Emergency MedicineAbility to obtain and maintain unrestricted state medical licensureDEA registration or eligibilityBLS, ACLS, ATLS, and PALS certification as requiredSkills and CompetenciesExpertise in acute care medicine and emergency proceduresStrong clinical judgment and rapid decision-making abilitiesAbility to perform effectively in high-stress, fast-paced environmentsExcellent communication and teamwork skillsCommitment to patient safety, efficiency, and evidence-based careWork EnvironmentEmergency department within an acute care hospitalShift-based scheduling, including nights, weekends, and holidaysPhysical RequirementsAbility to stand and move continuously throughout clinical shiftsManual dexterity for emergency proceduresVisual and auditory acuity sufficient for patient assessment and rapid response
