We partner with our Nurses at Medical City Las Colinas!Job Summary and QualificationsSurgery staff nurse works collaboratively with physicians and anesthesia personnel to determine the patients' needs during procedures and assume responsibility for patient care, documentation and evaluation of the effectiveness of nursing actions and ensure a safe environment of care. Performs direct patient care within the scope of the Registered Nurse Practice Act and following standards set forth by Association of PeriOperative Registered Nurses (AORN) with emphasis on the surgical patient. Follows Universal Protocol including Time-out and is knowledgeable about scrub and circulating duties. The surgery staff will assume all on-call duties as assigned. Perform other duties as assigned by leadership.Position Details:Self/preferential scheduling posted four weeks in advance for you to have predictability in your scheduleCulture of mutual respect and collaboration among all surgical staffContinuous investment in equipment including surgical instruments, devices and patient positioning for you to do your best work with patient safety and workflow efficiency in the Operating RoomRounding with unit leaders, including charge nurses, to ensure your voice is heard on suggestions for patient care and surgical workflow improvementOn-call is required during select non-business hoursWhat you will do in this role:Evaluate patients prior to surgeryProvide patient and family education surrounding the procedure and peri-operative processAssume responsibility for patient preparation, including intravenous therapy, preoperative medications, and surgical site verificationParticipate in surgical site verification, including briefing, time out, debriefing, and universal protocols, according to hospital policyRecognize and respond to patient emergenciesDeliver high-quality, patient-centered care while managing evidence-based practices and continuous improvement initiativesBe an integral member of a dynamic interdisciplinary team - consisting of the provider(s), surgeons, surgical technologists and moreConsistently apply the nursing process, critical thinking skills, scientific judgment, technical skills and leadership to independently deliver safe nursing care to patientsAssess patient condition, monitor throughout your shift, and document changes in patient condition along with the care provided thoroughlyEducate patients and families/caregivers about the patient's medical condition, treatment and follow-up measuresWhat qualifications you will need:Advanced Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 90 days of employment start dateBasic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date(RN) Registered NurseAssociate DegreeBenefitsMedical City Las Colinas, offers a total rewards package that supports the health, life, career and retirement of our colleagues.
