Job Description
SummaryThis experienced HVAC-R Technician needs to be competent in installing new HVAC systems and troubleshooting and repairing existing HVAC systems. Must have experience in sheet metal, hydronic, chilled water, and electric systems.There are full-time and part-time positions available! These positions are located in Guam.The pay range for this position is $21.91-$30.00/hour.Essential Duties and Responsibilities: (including but not limited to)Performing installation of a variety of HVAC systems, including but not limited to conventional split systems, packaged systems, computer room air conditioning units, and systems utilizing variable refrigerant flow technologyPerforming (predictive, preventive, proactive, and corrective) maintenance and repairs on heating, ventilating air conditioning, and refrigeration (HVAC-R) equipmentRepair leaking, solders, welded joints, mechanical joints, and condenser tube roll jointsUnderstand the proper use of nitrogen during the maintenance and construction of refrigerant-carrying pipingMust understand electrical fundamentals and proper meter usage. (e.g. VOM and Amperage)Refrigerant control and maintain EPA air quality standardsUnderstanding of Chilled Water systemsMinimum QualificationsHigh School Diploma or General Equivalent Degree (GED)Four (4) years of experience as an HVAC TechnicianValid driver's license and clean driving record, ability to operate company vehiclesKnowledge of principles and practices of safety managementKnowledge of HVAC codes, regulations, best practices, and lawsAbility to analyze, evaluate, and recommend sound solutions to problems of routine natureAbility to pass a pre-employment background check and drug screeningAbility to pass background check for Federal Agency to obtain security access badgingUnited States Citizen or Permanent ResidentPreferred QualificationsTwo (2) years of college level course work or trade school completedFive (5) to ten (10) years of experience as HVAC TechnicianElectrical License to work on HVAC systemsSelected manufacturer certified installer/technician (e.g., Daikin VRF systems)EPA 608 Universal Certification (Minimum of Type I and II)OSHA 10Familiar with control systemsKnowledge and experience with Alaska Native culturesShareholder PreferencePursuant to PL 93-638, as amended, preference will be given to qualified Ahtna Native Corporation Shareholders, Descendants, and Spouses in all phases of employment.Core CompetenciesSelf-motivated- Ability to perform a task to the best of one's ability using his or her own drive or initiative.Oral Communication- Ability to verbally communicate effectively with othersTime Management - Ability to utilize the available time to organize and complete work within given deadlinesGoal Oriented - Ability to focus on a goal and obtain a pre-determined resultAccuracy - Ability to perform work accurately and thoroughlyQuality- All work must be performed in a workman manner, maintaining the highest standardsPhysical DemandsFrequent lifting, standing, stooping for prolonged periods of time, using hands/fingers requiring dexterity, should have good hand-eye coordination and motion control in coordination with handling tools, equipment, and other related components.Reaching with hands and arms for items above and below sight level, talking, hearing (frequently communicates with field personnel via various modes, i.e., radio; must be able to relay accurate information), and seeing (up close, at a distance, along the periphery, with depth, color perception, and the ability to adjust focus); walking from place to place within the project location with occasional use of stairs and no elevator available; bending, pushing, pulling, kneeling and standing for up to 12 hoursFrequent lifting of up to 50-75 pounds, such as small electrical components, equipment and other materialsReasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.Work EnvironmentMay be indoors or outdoors, subject to confined spaces, changes in temperature, weather conditions, and noise levels.Work Schedule: Generally, M-F 40 hours, may vary as business needs dictate
