Bilingual Paraprofessional - 2026/27 School Year

Title: Bilingual ParaprofessionalCrystal Lake School District 47 currently has an opening for a Bilingual Paraprofessional for the 2026/27 School Year. This position provides instructional and other support services in various classroom settings to students under the supervision of a teacher or other professional staff member. This position will require the paraprofessional to support academic, behavioral, language and/or physical needs.Duties And ResponsibilitiesDemonstrate sensitivity to language minority students and is aware of cultural differencesProvide opportunities for students to practice and develop English language skillsProvide additional practice, explanation and reinforcement of concepts presented by the teacher in either English or the native languageAssist students, individually or in small groups, to complete lesson activities or assignmentsPerform duties directly related to the instructional program (i.e. preparing materials, etc.)Provide support directly related to students needs and needs of families (i.e. phone calls, notes, translations) as directed by staffMaintain same level of ethical behavior and confidentiality of information about students as expected by staffRefer any questions or concerns from parents to appropriate staff memberCommunicate with teachers, staff, support services and studentsCollaborate and foster teamworkCommunicate (verbal or written) with parents as directed by teacher, administration and related service staffAttend ongoing training as neededAssist students to complete lesson activities, assignment and assessmentsAssist in implementation of test accommodations/modifications during test administrationAssist staff with other activities when availableAssist/monitor student(s) to and from bus when neededAssist/monitor student(s) recess period indoors and outdoors when neededAssist/monitor student(s) in the classroomAssist with feeding skills with appropriate supervision/trainingAssist/monitor student(s) with toileting and other physical needs - this includes providing physical assistance to a student during the act of toileting while in the toileting location (see toileting definition below)Assist with care, correct use and maintenance of adaptive equipmentAssist student(s) during emergency situations, drills and field tripsCPI Certification encouraged and will be provided by District 47Skills And Experience RequiredValid ISBE Paraprofessional License or Short Term ApprovalUnderstand and follow oral and written instructionsMaintain confidentiality of students and their needsBasic knowledge and willingness to learn appropriate use of technologySuch alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptableMust demonstrate proficiency in reading, writing and speaking in native language.Physical/Mental RequirementsRequires sitting, standing, lifting, bending, walking and runningDemonstrate high level of flexibility, positive attitude, patience, sense of humor, perseverance, tenacity and concentration.Must have desire to work with studentsDefinition of toileting: Due to a child's disability or medical condition, the para B must provide physical assistance to a student during the act of toileting while in the toileting location.
