Church Information Center and Social Media SpecialistThe Lutheran Church - Missouri SynodOrganization ProfileLCMS Communications is responsible for informing, reporting and interpreting, in consultation with the applicable officers and boards, the Synod's purpose, program and positions to its members and for promoting an increased understanding on the part of the church's publics of the mission of the church and its positions and programs.Reporting RelationshipsReports to the Director/Manager of Media Relations and Social MediaEssential Job FunctionsProvide information as requested by inquiries to the CIC - either by responding directly or by forwarding the inquiry to the appropriate person at the Synod, district, congregation or other organization who can respond.Stay current on beliefs, practices, events and activities of the LCMS in order to be able to respond appropriately to inquiries.Maintain database of information for responding to inquiries.Keep FAQ web page up-to-date and advise other departments or web team with updates that should be made.Maintain correct recorded announcements on CIC phone line.Work with the web team to implement and monitor Help Scout on lcms.org.Maintain CIC office equipment, including phone system.Complete and submit reports on CIC activity as requested.Work as a member of the Social Media Team, working with the Manager of Social Media and other Social Media Specialists to manage the LCMS social media presence.Manage community engagement and moderation for up to 15 LCMS social media profiles as assigned.Support the social media team with creating, scheduling and posting when needed.Assume other responsibilities from the Social Media Manager or the Executive Director, as assigned.Education And ExperienceMember in good standing of an LCMS congregation with a solid understanding of Scriptures and LCMS doctrine.Bachelor's degree in journalism, communications, marketing or business-related field OR possess the equivalent in practical knowledge and experienceExperience in social media management and communications preferred2 years of previous experience managing inbound inquiries (verbal and written)1 year of work experience in an office settingKnowledge, Skills And AbilitiesProficient in the English language (vocabulary, grammar, punctuation) to handle a myriad of communication tasks, both written and oral.Proficient writer and copy-editor with experience writing as a brand voice.Good problem-solving and research skills.Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office products, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and Access; familiarity with web-based content management systems; and competency in web-based search techniques.Experience with current social media trends and principles.Experience working with social media management software or willingness to learn.Creative graphic design experience and familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite and Canva is a plus.Professional, friendly and courteous demeanor.Ability to maintain confidentiality of proprietary information.Excellent attendance record and dependability.Ability to work evenings and weekends and travel as required.Supervisory ResponsibilityNone
