Job DetailsJob Posting Title Innovation Data AnalystAgency 695 OKLAHOMA TAX COMMISSIONSupervisory Organization Data Analytics & GovernanceJob Type Regular | Full-timeCompensation Salary - $65,500 sponsorship We are unable to provide sponsorship.Job SummaryThe Data Analyst plays a key role in the Innovation Division, responsible for collecting, analyzing, and interpreting large data sets to support strategic business decisions. This position works closely with cross-functional teams to identify critical metrics, develop comprehensive reports, and produce clear, actionable visualizations. The Data Analyst contributes to the evaluation and enhancement of the agency's products, processes, and overall performance, with a focus on maintaining high standards, streamlining operations, and improving customer experience. Additionally, the role supports project management and organizational assessments, helping to optimize internal structures, business processes, and IT systems.Duties And ResponsibilitiesWork closely with management to prioritize business and information needs.Collect and analyze large datasets to identify trends, patterns, and insights.Ensure data accuracy, consistency, and completeness.Work closely with business teams to present data-driven insights and recommendations.Develop and implement reports, dashboards, data collection systems, data analytics, and other strategies that optimize statistical efficiency and quality.Interpret complex data and present findings in a clear and understandable way.Create visuals and dashboards to communicate data insights effectively.Identify data issues and inconsistencies and recommend solutions for improving data quality.Ensure compliance with data governance policies and industry regulations.Support decision making with data-driven insights and strategies.Assist in the development and automation of data analysis processes.Perform other job duties as assigned.Knowledge, Skills, And AbilitiesKnowledge OfData processing hardware and software; computer capabilities; systems analysis and development; coding and implementation; project management and documentation.In-depth understanding of organizational data flow and its use in management decision-making.Requirements gathering, data analysis, process specification, validation, and management practices.Data modeling, data mining, and segmentation techniques.Data visualization tools and best practices.Skills InAnalytical and systems thinking, critical thinking, and problem-solving.Prioritizing, scheduling, organizing, and allocating work with competing deadlines.Writing for business or technical audiences, presenting information, and negotiating.Collecting, organizing, analyzing, and disseminating significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy.Writing SQL queries and reports and presenting findings.Version control and working in a team environment within GitHub.Data modeling in SQL and/or Python.Ability ToWork independently and coordinate a wide variety of activities.Communicate effectively both orally and in writing.Interpret and apply policies and procedures.Create charts and graphs utilizing data visualization best practices.Clean and transform data sets for analysis and reporting.Solve complex problems using statistical analysis.Work effectively in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.Minimum QualificationsEducation and Experience requirements at this level consist ofA bachelor's degree in business administration, information systems, or a related field. Plus, two years of professional experience in statistical modeling and/or data analytics.OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.Preferred QualificationsFamiliarity with Agile and Lean methodologies.Experience with Qlik Analytics, DBT, Snowflake or Google BigQuery.Experience with predictive modeling in a production environment.Physical DemandsAbility to sit and stand for extended periods of time. Exhibit manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination to operate a computer, keyboard, photocopier, telephone, calculator and other office equipment. Ability to see and read a computer screen and printed material with or without vision aids. Ability to hear and understand speech at normal levels, with or without aids. Ability to communicate clearly. Physical ability to lift up to 15 pounds, to bend, stoop, climb stairs, walk and reach. Duties are normally performed in an office environment with a moderate noise level.Special RequirementsTravel may be required for this position. Applicants may need to have reliable transportation and be willing and able to perform all job-related travel. Possession and maintenance of a valid Oklahoma State Driver's License is also required. The primary work location will be on-site at the Oklahoma Tax Commission. Occasionally, telework may be requested based on the needs of the agency, division, and section. If applicable, applicant must be willing and able to work on-site with occasional telework at an off-site location, generally in the applicant's home. To work remotely, an applicant must have a secure internet connection and a dedicated telephone (landline) or smart phone device during scheduled working hours.
