Job Responsibilities: Role Overview: We are seeking a seasoned Senior Database Engineer to join us for a high-impact, short-term engagement. Our goal is to stabilize a specific PostgreSQL instance, conduct a comprehensive "Health Check" of our entire database ecosystem, and refine our long-term data strategy. You will act as both a forensic specialist and a strategic advisor, moving from immediate firefighting to long-term architectural recommendations. Key Responsibilities:Urgent Problem Solving: Diagnose and resolve a specific, high-priority performance/stability issue currently affecting a primary PostgreSQL instance.Infrastructure Audit: Review our current DBaaS providers and configurations. Evaluate if our current hosting strategy meets our scaling needs or if migration/optimization is necessary.Reliability & Disaster Recovery: Conduct a deep-dive audit of our backup protocols and restoration strategies to ensure zero-data-loss integrity.Performance Engineering: Audit general DB usage across the fleet.Identify missing or redundant indexes and implement query tuning.Optimize schema design where bottlenecks are identified.Observability: Review our current monitoring and alerting stack; implement or suggest improvements to ensure we catch issues before they impact users.Strategic Roadmap: Provide a comprehensive "State of the Union" report on our database health, including a prioritized list of technical debt and architectural improvements.
