Job Description Position SummaryThe Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) provides medical care and support to animals under the supervision of a licensed veterinarian. This role assists with examinations, surgical procedures, diagnostic testing, and client education while ensuring the highest standards of animal care, safety, and clinic efficiency.Key ResponsibilitiesPatient CareAssist veterinarians during examinations, treatments, and surgical proceduresMonitor anesthesia and patient vitals during surgery and recoveryAdminister medications, vaccines, and treatments as prescribed by the veterinarianCollect samples for laboratory testing (blood, urine, fecal, cytology)Clinical ProceduresPerform diagnostic imaging such as radiographs (X-rays)Conduct laboratory testing and maintain accurate medical recordsPrepare animals and surgical suites for proceduresMaintain sterile surgical environments and equipmentAnimal HandlingSafely restrain animals during examinations and proceduresProvide compassionate handling and care for animals of all sizes and temperamentsMonitor hospitalized patients and report changes in conditionClient CommunicationEducate pet owners on medications, treatment plans, nutrition, and preventive careProvide discharge instructions and post-operative care guidanceAnswer basic client questions and relay information to veterinarians when neededClinic OperationsMaintain inventory of medical supplies and medicationsEnsure exam rooms, treatment areas, and kennels remain clean and organizedFollow all safety, sanitation, and regulatory protocolsQualificationsRequiredCurrent Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) license from the state of Oklahoma.Graduate of an accredited Veterinary Technology programKnowledge of veterinary medical terminology and proceduresAbility to safely handle animals in stressful situationsStrong attention to detail and organizational skillsPreferred1–2 years of experience in a veterinary clinic or hospitalExperience with anesthesia monitoring and dental proceduresProficiency with veterinary practice management softwareSkills and CompetenciesAnimal handling and restraint techniquesSurgical and anesthesia assistanceLaboratory and diagnostic skillsStrong communication and teamwork abilitiesCompassion and empathy for animals and their ownersAbility to work in a fast-paced clinical environmentPhysical RequirementsAbility to lift and restrain animals weighing up to 50+ poundsAbility to stand for extended periodsExposure to animal dander, medical waste, and cleaning chemicalsWork EnvironmentVeterinary clinic, hospital, or specialty practice settingMay require evening, weekend, or holiday shiftsFast-paced environment with varying patient conditions
