Controller

The Oregon Lottery is looking for a Controller to join our Finance and Accounting team. This is a hybrid position and you will need to join the team on site in Salem, OR approximately once per week.

About the Role
The Controller will report to the Assistant Director of Business Services and lead a team of 16 finance and accounting professionals. You will provide strategic leadership in managing all financial operations, including forecasting and budgeting. You will also prepare financial reports, models, and ensure organizational financial stability and asset protection through internal controls. You will work collaboratively to support the executive team to guide decisions.

Manage team members and functional work requirements of Finance and Accounting.
Direct the preparation and consolidation of all financial data necessary for operational results.
Manage the coordination of financial audits and required financial reporting.
Oversee the completion of financial statements and reports to the Commission.
Coordinate the annual budgeting and financial planning processes.
Complete financial analysis and modeling, provide variances from budget and financial targets, reports on issues and advise on corrective measures.
Manage the bond process, participating in meetings and ensuring information is accurate.
Develop business processes and accounting policies to maintain internal controls and guide efficiency. Oversee accounting software ensuring compliance and controls.
Collaborate with other partners to partner and build other finance related projects, and provide financial trainings.
Manage and comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings.
Stay informed of industry and its discipline trends and meet educational requirements for CPA designation.
Identify financial benchmarks for measuring performance; develop financial dashboards and measurements and goals to report our financial performance.
Understand and apply GAAP and GASB standards, and any other future compliance requirements.
Identify, measures, analyze and communicate financial information to managers for the pursuit of our goals.
You Have:
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree and seven (7) years of experience as a Controller or other financial management role with strong knowledge of GAAP, GASB, financial analysis, and reporting. Four (4) years of experience must be management experience; OR
Ten (10) years of experience as a Controller or other financial management role with strong knowledge of GAAP, GASB, financial analysis, and reporting. Four (4) years of experience must be management experience.
