Together, we're planting the seeds of progress and nourishing a fresh, healthy future for everyone!JOB SUMMARYAs a Maintenance Technician, you will use your skills to support Manufacturing or Distribution Operations in repairing and maintaining material handling equipment, pneumatic systems, and compressors, and other devices throughout the building. Building maintenance common to the trades may be included periodically. You will have the opportunity to install, maintain and repair conveyors, automated packaging, and distribution equipment. Supports a preventive maintenance routine.ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Maintenance Technician performs an increasingly wider range of duties of a more complex nature over time, such as working in multiple maintenance trades such as hydraulics, plumbing, refrigeration, electrical, sheet metal fabrication, and welding. Troubleshoot electrical and mechanical problems related to all Material Handling Equipment (MHE) which includes belts, motors, photo-eyes, relays, and more. Applies mechanical skills in determining work methods and procedures for producing quality product.Job Description:Perform basic mechanical adjustments like tensioning drive belts, conveyor belts, tracking belts and chains.Works safely around moving equipment and conveyors in a wet environmentBe proficient in the use of standard hand tools such as wrenches, hammers, bearing pullers, etc.Perform building mechanical repairs such as overhead door track and panel replacement, concrete work, and chain link repairs.Change 480V motors, pulleys, gear boxes and belting.Perform simple plumbing repairs such as unclogging drains, replace faucets, and toilet repairs. Troubleshoot simple mechanical systems such as chain drives and pumps.Perform scheduled and emergency repairs on all equipment and building structures (i.e. pneumatic, electrical plumbing)Replace slicer, cutter, dicer blade assemblies and perform necessary adjustments.Read piping diagrams and identify the function of various components for air and water distribution systems.Handle blade housingLock out/Tag out equipment as necessarySafely operate shop equipment such as grinders, cut-off saws, power tools, ladders, etc.Comply with SQF Regulatory ProgramsRead and complete work orders, paperwork, specification books, schematics and manuals.Perform preventive maintenance and other duties as assigned.Troubleshoot control voltage on control panel and equipmentInstall and program VFD'sOperate packaging equipmentBASIC QUALIFICATIONSMust have a high school diploma or equivalent education.1 - 2 years' experience as a Maintenance Technician in a manufacturing plant or similar environmentTypically requires completion of a formal apprenticeship or equivalent training and experienceA degree or certificates in other related training or education is preferredExperience working in a chilled food factory or related environment is preferredGood knowledge and understanding of Safe work practices common to the tradesBilingual (Spanish / English) helpfulSKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITIESKnowledge of applying common mechanical processes, conveyer systems, procedures, and repairs commonly to food manufacturing equipmentBasic knowledge of electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic systemsBasic mechanical knowledge of AC/DC powered forklifts and pallet jacksBasic knowledge of all aspects of facility maintenance with the ability to perform minor repairs for multiple trades with competency and proficiencyAbility to work in a cold/ damp environment for extended periodsMust be able to source parts for all necessary repairsMust have strong interpersonal and employee relation skillsAbility to read, comprehend and speak professionally with team membersMust have basic mathematical skillsOur Values: As we continue to grow and provide leading edge products to our customers, we understand hiring the right people and treating them well is critical to our success.
