We provide families with high-quality early childhood education; after-school and summer enrichment; job support, training, and placement; and comprehensive family support services and referrals.Position SummaryThe Lead Preschool Teacher is passionate about early childhood education, kids in general and works in a supportive and collegiate environment where you can make a difference. The Lead Teacher is responsible for overall classroom management, including lesson planning, safety protocol and maintaining positive, professional relationships with parents/caregivers. This is a full time, non-exempt position and reports directly to the Site Supervisor.What You'll DoEstablish and maintain a safe, healthy and rich learning environment per FACES standardsSupervise, coach, and mentor classroom teacher(s) and floater teachers (teaching team)Support children's growth in key developmental areas (social-emotional, language and literacy, cognitive, and physical)Use age appropriate positive guidance techniques and model behavior for children and teaching teams.Ensure positive teacher/child interactions and peer relationships in the classroomMaintain Community Care Licensing (CCL) standards and train and supervise staff regarding CCL regulations; ensure teacher/child ratio.Lead classroom teaching team to plan and implement lessons and activities appropriate to children's developmental expectations and innate curiosity.Ensure the teaching team follows all health and safety procedures, including closely supervising children and conducting health checks.Lead and implement weekly developmental observations and the Desired Results Developmental Profile (DRDP) assessments, assign assessments to classroom teacherBe responsible in creating and maintaining positive family relationshipsCommunicate with parents daily around their child's day and milestonesPrepare for and lead teacher conferences with parents/caregiversPartner with FACES Family Support team, Inclusion team, and Site Supervisor to communicate and address need for additional child and family supportFollow all policies, procedures, and expectations set in Teacher HandbookEnsure all paperwork, program data, and other administrative tasks are completeAttend staff meetings and professional development/trainingsAlign classroom practices to FACES valuesCommitmentFull-Time Commitment: Lead Teachers are expected to work 8 hours per day within our operating hours of 7:30 AM - 5:30 PM.Locations: Assignments may include our three San Francisco sites: Bayview, Hayes Valley, and Masonic.QualificationsYou have a solid mix of the following knowledge, ability, skills and experience:Maintain California Child Development Teacher Permit or HigherTwo (2) + years classroom experience in ECE settingExperience with State and Federally funded child care programs (preferred)Demonstrated commitment to working with families from marginalized communitiesAbility to work cooperatively as a part of an interdisciplinary team, as well as the ability to work independently, demonstrating strong initiative and enthusiasmProfessionalism, punctuality, flexibility, self-motivation and reliability are essentialWork cooperatively as part of an interdisciplinary team using effective and compassionate communicationDemonstrates the ability to meet required state, federal, local, and FACES standards (including but not limited to fingerprint clearance, negative TB test, First Aid, CPR)Lift up to 50lbsA deep commitment to aligning all program practices to FACES values, especially around justice, equity, and inclusion for all our stakeholderStrong passion for and a desire to humbly reflect and grow in pursuit of our missionA sense of humor- we believe joy and justice go hand in hand!What We OfferAnnual salary between $36.00 - $47.60 based on experienceHealthcare premiums 100% paid for employees and 25% paid for dependentsThree weeks of vacation, personal and floating holidays, ten sick days, ten paid holidays (including one-week winter closure between Christmas and New Year's) and a day off for your birthday!A retirement plan with employer match up to 7% of your salaryA chance to positively impact the lives of young children and their familiesA fun, dynamic and collaborative working environmentOpportunity to join a movement to achieve educational, economic, and racial justice!
