Supply Chain Manager
Description:
Reporting directly to the VP of Operations this position is responsible for the overall control, movement and forecasting of materials, requiring advanced/applied knowledge of the subcontracted systems, supplier management, material requirements planning (MRP) process, project management, subcontract management and proposal activities with a broad knowledge of financial, project and material management. As the leader of the demand management process the position plays a crucial role in managing and optimizing the balance between supply and demand, involving forecasting demand and ensuring resource availability to meet business objectives and customer satisfaction.
Purchasing
Manages overall purchasing and warehouse activities of location such as receiving, kit fulfillment, shipping, etc. in compliance with space availability, production output, order requirements, and business plans.
Developing and implementing procurement strategies to facilitate efficient, cost-effective acquisition of the goods and services necessary for the business to operate.
Negotiating contracts with suppliers to acquire goods and services at the best possible prices and terms.
Managing supplier relationships to guarantee that quality and delivery requirements are met.
Monitoring and managing inventory levels to ensure sufficient on-hand supplies for operations.
Identifying and implementing cost-saving opportunities.
Production Control
Provide training and guidance, proper tools and software, and instructions with standard process and procedures, so that trained and knowledgeable personal are assigned to perform Production Control program activities and to ensure all regulations are followed.
Reviews sales orders and requisitions to ensure that they are complete and correct.
Coordinates with buyers, vendors, project managers and production supervisors to plan, schedule and monitor materials through production.
Establish and oversee, day to day operations and develop and implement measures of performance.
Logistics
Manage warehouse inventory and keep records of the inventory.
Monitor and manage budgets.
Select carriers for transportation and negotiate rates and contracts with carriers.
Respond to and resolve complaints and problems.
Monitoring shipping carriers, routes and rates and any changes.
Demand Planning
Developing effective forecast models-based demand patterns
Proposing and implementing solutions to improve demand forecast accuracy.
Successfully communicating forecast and inventory estimations to management
Monitoring and reporting on important changes in sales forecasts, budgets, and business strategies.
Requirements:
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in administration, Logistics, Materials Management, Supply Chain or related field.
Master’s degree is a strong plus.
Experience:
Minimum 10 years prior relevant experience, or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 7 years’ experience.
Other:
The successful candidate will have excellent written and oral communications skills to influence and communicate effectively across multiple areas outside of one’s own job function as well as with parties external to the organization. The ability to lead a team of individual and mangers.
Must be able to act independently and in a team environment. Have good negotiation and communication skills. Knowledgeable in setting policies/budgets/methods. Must be analytical and able to expertly plan and organize. Must be able to effectively supervise and delegate work to staff. Must be able to assess and prioritize workload for self and for subordinates. Ability to assess performance of subordinates and promote a harmonious working relationship.
This is largely a sedentary role; however several trips per day to production floor, stockroom, receiving, and Receiving Inspection may be required. Some filing is required. This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand on a stool as necessary. This position requires the ability to occasionally lift office products and supplies up to 20 pounds.
