Security Officer The Security Officer I is responsible for maintaining a safe, secure, and peaceful environment for patients, visitors, and employees, and for protecting hospital buildings, assets, and premises as assigned.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:Protect staff, patients, and visitors from violent encounters involving irate patients, visitors, or staffPatrol hospital buildings and grounds to prevent fire, theft, vandalism, and illegal entryCheck cars for parking authorization decal and determine if vehicles are parked in restricted areas, such as near fire hydrants or in driveways, ambulance entrance, or reserved parking areas/spaces and write parking violations as appropriatePeriodically tour buildings and grounds, examining doors, windows, and gates to determine that they are secure and have not been tampered with.Question unauthorized persons and route or detain them Telephone Chesapeake Police Department for assistance as needed (911 or 382-6161)Report any unsafe conditions, including malfunctions of heating, plumbing, or electrical systems, to the Facilities staff, on weekends and holidays contact the Nursing SupervisorMaintain constant contact with the PBX operator and other Security staff via portable radioWrite and complete case reports regarding incidents that occur on CRMC property when necessaryRespond to all alarms and requests for services, investigating disturbances in a timely mannerDiffuse crisis situations utilizing a variety of communication and security techniques on patients, visitors, and staff who exhibit extreme or atypical behaviorAttend required hospital-wide orientations, meetings, and in-servicesDemonstrate a commitment to a flexible work scheduling when necessary to ensure patient careSupervisory Responsibilities:Reports to: Lead Security Officer, may also receive direction from the Operations Manager or Director of SecuritySupervises: NoneResponsibilities: Not ApplicableQualifications:To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
