Scope of Responsibility:
Cascade Engineering is seeking a Traffic Supervisor to lead daily inbound and outbound shipping operations. This role oversees truck drivers and a traffic coordinator, ensures on-time and cost-effective deliveries, manages customer portals and documentation (ASN's, BOLs, USMCA/COO, customs paperwork), and maintains compliance with DOT regulations.
The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader with strong shipping experience, excellent communication skills, and the ability to coordinate across customer service, materials, carriers, and production to ensure accurate, efficient, and compliant logistics operations.
Location: Buursma Plant (4950 37th St. SE, Grand Rapids, MI 49512)
Shift: Day shift
Target Pay: The target starting base salary for this position is $70,470 - $96,897/year (plus quarterly bonus incentive). Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. General Responsibilities:
Manage shipments and deliveries to ensure that our customers' needs are met at the best possible cost
Coordinate ship schedule for all inter-company shipments
Directly supervise Truck Drivers and Traffic Coordinator
Manage truck routes
Verify shipments from previous day for accuracy
Manage the tracking of selected customer returnable shipments
Manage customer portals, as required
Understands and is able to transmit ASN's (where applicable) including how to troubleshoot errors and verify ASN acceptance
Review DOT requirements for Truck drivers and address as needed.
Create customs paperwork for all international shipments (incoming and outgoing)
Liaison between customer service, carriers, materials, and shipping departments.
Manage and record inventory of current trailers on campus and report out to management weekly, at minimum
Will take the lead on incident report investigation for the department, including coordination of trailer damage and truck repairs.
Manages and reviews freight bills for payment
Provide back up to the Logistics Manager as needed
Lead, manage, mentor and develop direct reports
Collaborate and communicate with other departments within the organization
Performs additional responsibilities as requested to achieve business objectives

Requirements:
High School Diploma / GED or international equivalency
3+ years of formal leadership experience along with coaching, training and development
5+ years of shipping experience in understanding customer requirements, BOL, carrier routing, etc.
Experience working with and understanding DOT requirements
Knowledge of customs paperwork for all international shipments (incoming and outgoing)
Prior experience working in customer portals
Excellent communication skills, both verbally and in writing.
Basic knowledge of conducting trailer audits
Valid driver's license and forklift license
Proficient in use of Microsoft Office products, including internet and email.
Ability to prioritize and multi task with a sense of urgency
Preferred:
Bachelors with 1-2 years of experience of supervising, coaching and developing staff
Experience in manufacturing
Experience with freight brokers and working with carriers on pricing
