This is a hands-on, dual office/field role responsible for managing subcontractors, coordinating procurement, supporting estimating, maintaining project schedules, and ensuring full documentation and cost control throughout the project lifecycle.The ideal candidate brings a strong understanding of residential construction practices, field execution, and project administration, with the ability to operate independently and drive results in a fast-paced, high-expectation environment.This role is critical in bridging preconstruction, field execution, and financial performance, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. Project locations primarily in Placer County from Roseville to Truckee regions.KEY RESPONSIBILITIESPreconstruction / Estimating SupportAssist in project estimating, quantity takeoffs, and scope developmentSupport development of trade scopes and bid packagesSolicit and level subcontractor bidsIdentify scope gaps, overlaps, and cost risks during preconstructionAssist in value engineering and cost optimization strategiesScheduling & Project PlanningDevelop and maintain project schedules (3-week lookahead + master schedule)Coordinate sequencing of trades and long-lead itemsIdentify schedule risks and proactively adjust execution plansDrive accountability with subcontractors to meet milestonesProcurement & Subcontractor ManagementManage procurement of materials and subcontractor buyoutTrack long-lead items and ensure timely orderingCoordinate deliveries and site logisticsAssist in subcontract negotiation and scope alignmentMaintain vendor and subcontractor relationshipsSubmittals & Document ControlManage submittal process from initiation through approvalReview shop drawings and product data for compliance with plans/specsCoordinate with design team for approvals and revisionsMaintain organized and up-to-date document control systemField Execution & Superintendent SupportAssist in day-to-day field operations and subcontractor coordinationEnforce jobsite standards for:QualitySafetyCleanlinessConduct regular site walks to verify work-in-placeIdentify and resolve field issues in real timeEnsure work aligns with plans, specs, and approved submittalsChange Order ManagementIdentify, track, and document potential change events earlyPrepare and manage change order pricing and documentationCoordinate with subs and vendors on change impactsEnsure all changes are:DocumentedApprovedBilledProtect project margin through disciplined change managementCost Control & Project FinancialsTrack project costs vs budgetAssist in reviewing subcontractor invoices and progress paymentsIdentify cost overruns and recommend corrective actionMaintain accurate project cost documentationClient & Team CoordinationInterface with:ClientsArchitectsEngineersPublic agenciesParticipate in project meetings and provide updatesMaintain clear and proactive communication across all partiesQuality & ComplianceEnsure compliance with:Building codesPlans and specificationsInspection requirementsCoordinate inspections and approvalsMaintain project documentation for closeoutQUALIFICATIONSBachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field (preferred)Minimum of 5+ years of experience in residential or commercial construction, with direct involvement in project engineering, field supervision, or project managementDemonstrated experience with estimating support, bid solicitation, scope leveling, and subcontractor buyoutWorking knowledge of project scheduling, sequencing, and trade coordination (lookahead planning and schedule updates)Experience managing procurement of materials and long-lead itemsFamiliarity with submittals, RFIs, and construction document control processesProven ability to manage subcontractors, enforce scope, and coordinate field activitiesStrong understanding of construction methods, building systems, and quality control practicesAbility to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and project schedulesExperience identifying and managing change orders, cost impacts, and field-driven scope changesStrong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills with a proactive, ownership-driven mindsetProficiency in Microsoft Office and construction/project management software (e.g., Procore, AutoCAD, MS Project, or similar)Ability to manage multiple projects, priorities, and deadlines in a fast-paced, field-driven environmentWORK ENVIRONMENTOffice and field based with occasional supplier/vendor visitsCollaborative, cross-functional team environmentFast-paced, deadline-driven settingReliable transportation required
