Michael Foods, Inc. located in Norwalk, Iowa is a southern suburb in the Des Moines, Iowa metropolitan area. We are known for knowing our neighbors and enjoying a great quality of life! Our location produces high quality precooked egg patties as well as various French Toast products.
ResponsibilitiesThe Inventory Analyst will work with various departments to ensure product is rotated and shipped in accordance with company procedures. S/he will communicate discrepancies promptly to ensure customers are informed and invoicing can be adjusted.
This position has the responsibility to comply with Safety work rules at all times as well as an obligation to reinforce Safety as a Core Value. Ensures that all policies, procedures and activities, related to Food Safety & Quality, are followed and complied with uniformly, in an effort to reduce product and process variability.
Duties and responsibilities include:
Control product aging and rotation
Set up shipping of aged product to designated customers
Direct the movement of aged product
Rotate inventory to avoid product aging, if possible
Work with receiving to maintain accuracy and location of special products
Verify production received with accounting
Work with receiving and cycle counters to maintain accuracy and location of receipts
Verify receipts with accounting and discrepancies with shipper
Set up shipping of special product with shipping and customer service
Prepare shipping paperwork and export documents
Verify and locate causes of inventory discrepancies
Contact shipper if outside receipt regarding product over or short
Contact customer service to verify over or short with customer
Contact corporate accounting to correct invoicing
Adjust inventory and check aging of product
Work with cycle counters to locate and identify product not shown in inventory
Update inventory daily and notify management of reportable adjustments
Assumes personal responsibility to insure safe and healthy workplace for everyone
Adhere to all safety policies and procedures and incorporate safety and health in all jobs and tasks
Adheres to Quality work practices, follows GMP's, maintains sanitary conditions and ensures that product quality is maintained
Always ensures regulatory compliance
Manages production transactions related to process orders and inventory control
Perform other duties as assigned
Able to work weekends, holidays and overtime as needed
QualificationsEducation and experience required:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED) or equivalent.
Preferred education, experience and skills:
Experience: Minimum one-year experience with Warehousing preferred. Proficient with computer applications. Must be detail orientated. Experience with SAP preferred
Language skills: Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations.
Mathematical skills: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, fractions, ratios. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra.
Reasoning ability: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
