Diesel Mechanic
Job TypeFull-time Description Butte Sand Trucking Co. in Sutter, CA is hiring an experienced Diesel Fleet Mechanic. The successful candidate will be able to perform maintenance and repairs on diesel trucks and trailers. Requirements Essential Duties: Diagnose and perform repairs on heavy duty diesel trucks, trailers and heavy equipment Identify and determine parts required for repairs Perform road repairs as needed in a service truck Adjust, replace and repair all series of truck and trailer equipment Road test vehicles when necessary Maintain current knowledge of job and technical skills and truck manufacture's repair process Participate in all safety meetings Participate in all training classes to maintain proficiency Communicate directly with shop foreman and supervisors in regards to equipment condition, repairs, and scheduled inspections Physical requirements/Work environment: Regularly works in shop, but could include occasional outdoor weather conditions Works frequently near moving mechanical parts and exposed to wet conditions and vibrations Loud work environment Occasionally exposed to fumes and chemicals Regularly required to use hands to handle, feel, or operate different tools or equipment Ability to lift 60 pounds regularly and occasionally 100 pounds Minimum Qualifications:2-3 years of relevant experience working with diesel equipment and hydraulic systems preferred Mechanical experience and knowledge of basic systems such as engine components, hydraulic components, air components, and electrical systems Proficiency in the use of hand tools required Must have knowledge of welding, cutting and metal fabrication Must have positive attitude and eagerness to learn and grow Must be able to pass pre-employment drug test Preferred Qualifications:Exposure to DOT regulations and fleet requirements a plus Safety training including CPR and first-aid certifications, and MSHA Part 46 training. Multiple heavy equipment construction skills and certifications including welding, cutting, mechanical, and electrical systems. Basic Computer skills Personal Specifications:Safety-focused individual that is able to work well with others. Dependable, trustworthy, and have a positive attitude. Willing to work either early shift or swing shift up to six days a week during the spring, summer, and fall. Willing to work overtime as needed.
