Whatcom County Public Works Engineering is hiring an Engineering Technician within our Traffic Section team. In this position, you will perform routine traffic counts, conduct analyses for installation of traffic infrastructure improvements, prepare and review intersection evaluation reports, and investigate vehicular collision reports. The Traffic Section is forward facing in the community, working directly with concerned citizens of Whatcom County to develop solutions to transportation-related issues, such as requests for traffic calming, incidents of failure to stop or yield, substandard sight distance and many others. The Traffic Section also seeks out and obtains Federal, State and local grant funding to support the road and bridge construction program in Whatcom County. Creation of exhibits and maps utilizing AutoCAD and ArcGIS are routine duties of this Traffic Technician position, as well as coordinating with other Public Works Engineering sections, Maintenance & Operations and the Sheriff’s Office.
