This includes attendance, participation, and contribution in local safety committee meetings as needed.Job SummaryThe Business Analyst will assist the Director of Analytics and Logistics to provide analytical and logistical support to all departments within Engineering and Maintenance (E&M). The Analyst will leverage multiple data sources to iteratively build dashboards to empower stakeholders to make data driven decisions and create a culture of continuous improvement. This position will also assist in the development of performance-based specifications, to include the optimization of labor requirements, analyze data of various forms (financial, labor, maintenance) and perform as needed maintenance on existing digital tools. In addition, this position will serve as a liaison with external departments such as Procurement and Logistics, Contract Administration, Budget, Asset Management, and Capital Programs in order to provide data and support existing processes.Duties & ResponsibilitiesAnalyze the performance of current business processes and work to continuously optimize them based upon external and internal feedback.Utilize available data visualization tools to build and catalog performance trends in support of periodic reviews with vendors or internal parties (e.g. Tableau Dashboards)Assist in convening internal departments or third-party providers to review contract or internal performance trends and discuss improvements.Analyze data to quantify a third-party provider's performance over time.Review MBTA documentation and process key inputs and outputs (requisitions, payments, access requests, reporting requests, etc.) into MBTA information systems such as PeopleSoft, enterprise asset management systems, etc.Perform special studies and projects to optimize the use of available resources.Build analytical models to support "what-if" analysisIdentify issues that require analyses, providing early notice of problem areas at a high level and at the departmental level.Encourage the adoption of existing digital systems and newly deployed digital tools through hands-on training sessions.Perform related duties and prepare materials for presentations, reports, and special projects as assigned.Respond to each inquiry, whether from a customer, vendor, or co-worker in a courteous and professional manner.Adhere to the rules, regulations, collective bargaining agreements (if applicable) and policies of the Authority including the EEO, Anti-Discrimination and Anti-Harassment and Anti-Retaliation policies.Perform all other duties and projects that may be assigned. See applicable addendum for department or location specific functions.SupervisionNoneMinimum Requirements & QualificationsA bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in business, finance, mathematics, economics, or related field.Two (2) years of experience in a field requiring quantitative analysis.Effective communicator who can work with, influence, and train people from diverse backgrounds to adopt new tools.Demonstrated knowledge of data analysis and data visualization tools (such as Tableau) and familiarity with agile methodologies.Demonstrated ability to multi-task and work independently to meet deadlines.Experience working as a member of a cross-functional team.Proven proficiency utilizing Microsoft applications, including Excel, Word, and PowerPointNote: Applicants may be required to complete a Microsoft Excel Exam as part of the selection process.Excellent collaboration and customer service skills.Substitutions IncludeA High School Diploma or GED with an additional seven (7) years of directly related experience substitutes for the bachelor's degree requirement.An associate degree from an accredited institution an additional three (3) years of directly related experience substitutes for the bachelor's degree requirement.A master's degree in a related subject substitutes for two (2) years of general experience.A nationally recognized certification, or statewide/professional certification in a related field substitutes for one year of experience.Preferred Experience and SkillsExperience working for a public agency.
