Low Voltage Technician - Installer

Job Description As an Installer at Electronic Design Company (EDC), you will be responsible for installing electronic communications equipment, including cable, fiber optics, and electronic devices. All installations must meet EDC’s high-quality standards while ensuring a safe and professional work environment.ResponsibilitiesPull low-voltage cablesInstall hardware such as audio speakers, microphones, and monitorsOperate cable testing equipmentTrack time sheets, service tickets, and inventory accuratelyMeet installation deadlinesComply with safety programsOperate power toolsPerform additional duties as required by managementUnion Membership & Compensation: Installers are required to join the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) Union 292. EDC will help facilitate this process. Advancement is based on hours worked, training completion, and certification. Compensation and benefits follow the union agreement, with top-level pay being 2.6 times higher than entry-level Installer pay.Advancement Opportunities: Progress through various Installer levels, up to Journeyperson Installer, Technician, Foreman, and General Foreman, with potential to move into roles such as Programmer, Field Engineer, System Designer, or Management.QualificationsHigh school diploma or equivalentKnowledge of communication systems is preferredValid driver’s licenseSkills & AbilitiesExcellent communication and customer service skillsAbility to manage multiple tasks and work with diverse groupsProficiency with MS Office and related softwareStrong organizational and problem-solving skillsAbility to work under stress and meet deadlinesTravel: Some out-of-town travel may be required.Physical & Environmental RequirementsStanding, walking, climbing, sitting, and light liftingWork is mostly indoors, with occasional exposure to outdoor weatherThis job description is subject to change, and additional duties may be assigned as needed.
