Receiver-Stocker/Cashier/Financial ResponsibilitiesProvide courteous and professional services to donors by assisting at the dock with their donations, processing the donations, and stocking the items to ensure the success of the SVdP mission.Essential Duties And ResponsibilitiesReceiver-Stocker:Presents a professional, clean appearance and provide courteous service to all customers and donorsResponds quickly to bell for customer service needed at dockAssists customers lifting the donated itemsUtilizes resources to assist with heavy lifting, such as hand truck, electric forklift (must be certified) or other staff to helpAssists drivers with unloading of large and heavy donated items and with loading of items for recycling or deliveryFollows pricing guidelines to properly mark items for saleBrings items out to floor for display and stockingAssists customers loading items in vehiclesOther duties as assignedCashier Responsibilities:Presents a professional, clean appearanceHandles merchandise with care from checking out to bagging processKeeps cashier area and fitting rooms clean, and racks stocked and straightenedFollows cashier policies and procedures regarding not checking out own merchandise, any family member, other employees or volunteersContacts store management with questions and advice on handling unusual situationsProvides applicants with application and job responsibility information, assists with setting up applicants for an interviewOther duties as assignedFinancial Responsibilities:Use accuracy when ringing up a sale and counting back cash moneyEnsure customer receives a receipt and use diplomacy when a credit card is declinedResponsible for a balanced cash drawerOrganization Mission And Policies:Supports and demonstrates excellent customer assistance by following the SVdP Customer Service Motto to " S Serve our V Valuable Customers with D Distinction and P Purpose" which defines "our valuable customers" as both internal and external; i.e. co-workers, neighbors, donators, vendors, organizational contacts and thrift store consumers.Education, Certifications And Experience:Less than high school education or High School diploma or GEDSkills And Abilities Requirements:Knowledge of: Mathematics and reading comprehension (Intermediate level)Skills and Abilities: Oral and written communication to wide and varied audiences, customer service, follow directions, work on multiple projects at once in fast-paced environment, attention to detail, count change, work a flexible schedulePhysical: Frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift up to 100 pounds, regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk or hear, occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, occasionally works near moving mechanical parts, if applicable. Occasionally works in high precarious places.
