This position will be involved in the preparation of cold and hot food that meets company standards and quality.We are currently looking for a:Adventureland Park - Line Cook (Palace Theater)Roles & Responsibilities:Prepare workstations with supplies, foods, and condimentsFocus on delivering exceptional food quality for all meals preparedInspect and clean all food preparation areasStrictly abide by standards set forth by ServSafe, state and local regulations, company policy, and other food regulatory standards that may apply at AdventurelandBecome knowledgeable of all food products and ingredients usedWeigh, measure, and mix ingredients using various kitchen utensils and equipment season and cook food according to recipes or personal judgmentAssist with basic food preparation, such as washing, peeling, slicing, fruits and vegetablesUtilize ovens, fryers, broilers, griddles, mixers, and knives to prepare food (age restrictions may apply)Ensure food and ingredients are being properly stored at the correct temperaturesSeasons and cooks each item according to the recipe and menuPlate the prepared food appropriatelyPre-portion individual packaging sauces, sandwiches, salads, and other itemsLabel and track life of stored food to ensure suitable food safety and qualityRotate food items out of storage by using the newly prepped items lastAssist with managing kitchen inventory and replenishing food items that were usedCommunicate with the kitchen staff to ensure a high level of safety and efficiencyMaintain a safe, clean, and organized work environmentSweep and mop floors within the food preparation areas, to ensure that food residue does not accumulateEnsure that all work areas, food and equipment/utensils used are cleaned, stowed and secured in preparation for the next day's work, in accordance with state and local sanitation protocolsAll other duties assigned by leadershipEducation and Experience:No education requirements for this positionCulinary arts education a plus, but not required1+ year of previous experience as a chef, cook, or another culinary-related role highly desired, but not required.Language: Ability to read, write, and speak fluent English Spanish or other bilingual language skills are a plus. Requirements: Must be at least 18 years of age to comply with Iowa Child Labor LawsAbility to work flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidaysMust have reliable transportation to and from your scheduled shiftAbility to comply with all uniform policiesMust possess exceptional customer service skills, with an ability to resolve questions, problems, issues, and concerns in a positive and professional mannerMust possess safety-oriented mindset and understand the importance of complying with all state, and local food preparation and serving regulationsAbility to use kitchen equipment, knives, and appliances in a safe and effective mannerMust possess a general knowledge and interest in food preparation or culinary artsAbility to follow direction, multi-task, and work as part of a team as well as independentlyPhysical Requirements:Ability to stand, walk, and remain on feet for majority of the workdayAbility to frequently stoop, twist, kneel, bend, squat, or reach above shouldersAbility to withstand heat and humidity from the food preparation equipmentAbility to carry, push, pull, lift, and hold objects weighing 30 pounds or moreAbility to use a step ladder in a safe and proper mannerWorking Conditions:This role will predominantly be based in a kitchen environmentPotential to be asked to work in other indoor or outdoor areas of the park, as neededSome exposure to the variable outside temperatures, including high heat, cold, direct sun, humidity, dust, rain, snow, ice, and other weather conditionsSubject to the handling of and exposure to oils, chemicals, detergents, and cleaners (age restrictions apply)Subject to frequent interruptions, constant repetitive motion, high noise levels, and heavily populated environmentsTeam member benefits:Working at Adventureland is about making people happy!
