Internship OpportunityDuration of Internship is subject to the City's discretion.Under direct supervision, performs administrative tasks to assist staff with the performance of their duties. The intern may be placed in any of the following Departments: City Manager's Office, Administrative Services, Community Development, Police, Recreation, General Services, or Transportation. Responsibilities could include, but are not limited to the following areas:May assist department on program development and initiativePrepares documents, presentations, spreadsheets, etc.Gathers information from various sourcesProvides information to the public, as directedProvides administrative supportPerforms related duties as assigned.Knowledge of:Principles for providing customer serviceBasic computer skills, including Microsoft Office softwareAdministrative and clerical proceduresBasic research and statistical research methods and techniques.Skills:Effective verbal and written communicationOperate office equipment including computers, copying machines and phone systemsCollect, compile, analyze, and interpret statistical dataLearn software applications as assignedPrioritize work and meet deadlines with many interruptions.Ability to:Understand and follow oral and written instructionsUse tact, patience, and courtesy when engaging with othersPlan, organize, prioritize, and schedule assignments.Education and Experience: Equivalent to high school graduation and be currently enrolled in an accredited college or university or another continued educational program.License/Certificate: Possession of a valid California Class C Driver's License is required.
